DSM-5 Essentials: The Savvy Clinician's Guide to the Changes in Criteria

DSM-5 Clinicians Guide
Kindle download. Just what I needed as I had just received the hard cover DSM-5 and needed some additional guidelines prior to my planned use in diagnostics, treatment plans; etc. As an example, I was hesitant in the new diagnoses report format. Helped considerably. Bit later attended a Continuing Education presentation in application of the DSM-5. I felt I had a considerable jump on the program thanks also to this Clinician's Guide.

Great for quick DSM-IV to DSM-V Revision Review
I bought this book while studying for the USMLE Step 1 exam. The test is converting to DSM-V ao I just needed to know the main changes that have occurred from DSM-IV. This book was perfect for that! It went thru each chapter and subchapter in a quick and easy to ready manner, highlighting the main changes and why they were made. Great book for this use!

Not exactly what I was expecting then I decide to buy the DSM-5 that I don't regret. Sure the DSM-5 require more reading but it is exactly what we need to do in order to have a better understanding of the new changes which are minimum but we need to implement it in our diagnoses. I returned this book because personally I didn't like it.

Very concise, gives an up to date intro to the DSM 5. Very good introduction for use for someone without any familiarity with it or someone who wants to just get an overview.

Helpful book for exam
Great book that helped me study for the NCMHCE exam and learn the new DSM-5 diagnosis and the changes. Easy to read. I wish it would have covered some of the previous diagnoses though so I could compare. I had to use my DDSM-IV-TR to compare. Overall though it was very helpful.

Good for the price but may not look at me when you get it
The information in the book itself is a little simpler than I expected, so not quite as useful. But the way it was sent with a bent over cover on what was supposed to be a new book was disappointing

Great professional purchase!
I purchased this book as a required text for a counseling course. If you are a professional counselor and have not purchased this update yet, do it now!

A Good Value
I have found this book to be succinct and easy to read. I'm getting ready to take my NCMHCE in November but am not using the DSM V yet at work. This book has been really helpful in getting a quick understanding of the changes from the DSM 1V TR.

So so
This book did not meet my expectations as other "Essentials" have done in the past. It expects a high degree of familiarity with the DSM IV but as a school psychologist, lacked some of the information I would need.
