Do these expire? How do you clean them?

I've had many of these mineral blocks and have not seen any expiration date on package. I make sure I do not hang it where my bird will poop so it really doesn't need cleaning. If beak gets a little food on it I take my fingernail and scrape it off.

How big is the block itself? I'm not interested in the size of the packaging.

The block is round and the widest part is 2 and 1/4 inches

I believe it's just clay. Very soft.
