Sand & Snow Anchors - Secures Tents, Tarps, or Survival Structures - with Metal D Ring Clip, Lightweight Cord, and 100% (Black, 4 Pack)

Just got back from a beach trip using these to anchor a 6 person dome tent against some pretty strong ocean winds (a constant 10-20mph wind with gusts reaching 35 or so). It wasn't storming, but what I would consider a very windy day at the beach if you know what I'm talking about. Until the thing was anchored, the tent was basically a kite and very difficult to set up. I saw a couple others blow over and some other people really struggle with theirs for hours. I used snow/sand stakes at the 4 corners of the footprint and tent, which was not sufficient, but gave me enough time to set up these on guy lines. While there are other solutions to combat sand, snow, and wind, I really appreciate these for its versatility. All it took was 2 of these with cantaloupe sized rocks going in the direction of the wind to hold the tent in place. I used 2 more to make sure it was going nowhere. This anchored with a rock had my confidence, but I ran out, so I used dead man anchors with firewood for the rest. I would imagine if I had more, I would have used more rocks on the surface (you could bury too, but it held well enough), I would use these with buried firewood (wind was strong enough to pull wood across the surface of the sand), and my last resort would be to use buried with sand. I'm sure it would be okay in a pinch, but I always have a lot of firewood and kids who are willing to go rock hunting, so its really a non-issue. The product itself held up really well when it came to durability too. Though the carabiner seems cheap, I would imagine the spring mechanism in it would go before it bends out of shape or anything and could easily be fixed by any cheapo s biner or carabiner. I'll probably pick up another set of 4 before my next beach trip.

Used these during snowshoeing trip in dumping snow just outside Yosemite where we were moving every day. They are well made. They are just a bit more complicated to set up than the larger wide aluminum tent stakes I also brought. The stakes being rigid, it was dig, place and cover. These fabric stakes took more managing to place because they are not rigid. They are lighter though. All in all a nod to these if my tent is staying put for more than one night in snow or the snow is light and fluffy.

Nothing wrong with the quality, or the description. For me, just too basic and seem smaller as you use them. Yes, they tell you the size and it is accurate, but once you add the (sand in my case) and pull them taught, it just feels like you have overspent for the result. I had mine pull out several times. Next time at the beach I used 5 gallon buckets (that were recycled, therefore free) and they were better anchors and were even handy to transport other gear.(never tested in snow)Gave 3 stars because if you are backpacking or other activity where size is critical, your experience could be different.

Went camping on a remote island off the coast of NC. We were slated for pretty rough weather the whole weekend, and knowing the tent only came with 6" long pencil-thin stakes, I knew we'd be blown down the beach before we could even get the rain fly on. I purchased two sets of these bad boys: one set for the actual tent & footprint, and a second set for the rain fly and guy lines. These were SUPER easy to install and held the tent down nice and tight. We had zero issues the entire weekend, despite the wind blowing at a steady 20 knots (about 23 mph) with the occasional 30 knot gust. They're well-stitched and with the looped rope on them, you can opt to use 550 cord to attach them to things that don't have an option to use a carabiner. Bonus points for being able to bury them as deep as you need, without having anything sticking up out of the sand that could make you trip. 10/10 would purchase again.

Did not hold tent in place on beach despite digging down almost a foot before covering up with sand.

These sand anchors are definitely worth the money. I bought them primarily for my beach umbrella. I have always had a fear of the umbrella flying away and hurting someone but these anchors give me a peace of mind. They are aesthetically pleasing, durable, and easy to store. They're easy to use, take them out and bury them in the sand. I bought some parachute cord to tie around the anchor and the umbrella. I only end up needing 1 anchor to hold down the umbrella because of how well they work. They're also extremely easy to clean, you can wipe them or just shake off the sand. I have used these anchors about 10 times and they still look brand new. When you're done they fold flat. So if you're looking for good anchors these are definitely worth purchasing. You get 4 for a great price.

I got these for a planned beach camping trip, which we had to cancel because of extremely high winds, so I can't tell you if they'd help in 50 mph gusts! But, we did end up using them a month or two later at a beach campsite. We had a milder storm and these helped in the wind. The tent didn't budge. We secured two sides with rocks and one side around the leg of the campsite picnic table. I think we left the last one off. Anyway, they are really lightweight and simple but do the job.
