TruCook ThermoFork - With Instant Read Thermometer

I was fortunate enough to snag one of these through Amazon.com. This is the original design of this "diode" product and it works great. These appeared in stores back in the late 90's. I had one that worked flawlessly for over 10 years, then the battery compartment cover cracked. I tried the newer designs that give you actual temps but they were inaccurate and very hard to read. This unit utilizes bright red LED's and provides you with degree of doneness indications for meats and poultry. It is very accurate and easy to use. Another great feature is the fork tongs are removable for easy cleaning eliminating the possibility of submerging the electronic handle in water while cleaning the tongs. There are cheaper copies of this style available currently. They are much smaller in size, lack the number of doneness indications found on this one and are not very accurate. In addition the fork tongs are not removable. If you can still find stock on one of these in the original design do not hesitate to purchase! A great, high quality product!

I purchased this since it has a long handle and looked like it would work over a barbecue grill without burning your hand. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to register a reading and the reading, when it comes, is not very precise.

This is the second one of these I have purchased. The first lasted 7 years. The plastic holding the batteries in recently cracked, otherwise it still worked. The ease of reading the display and the quickness with which it displays is unmatched by any of the interim products I purchased. It's a bit pricey and I doubt that I paid this much on the first one, but it is still the best product I have found.

This is the very best meat thermometer I've ever used! I just insert it in the meat and it clearly indicates the exact amount of "doneness" in a matter of seconds. It's so much easier for me than the ones that indicate by temperature of the meat. Wonderful purchase!

You require a miniature screw diver to change the batteries, and the screw is very difficult to remove. It is also very small and easily lost, so be careful with it. No way of testing it other than sticking in to already cooking meat, no test button or low battery warning.

Love this fork. Quick feedback, no button to push. It's my second time purchasing the same item. I wore the first one out after several years use.PS. I did not receive this item at any discount for a good review...I Paid full asking price, twice! HA.

Don't buy this it is dangerous! The metal prongs can come off in the meat. I was cooking pork on the grill and one of the metal probe tips came off in the meat and my wife almost swallowed it! It could have done serious damage
