Great Compressor !!
I purchased this Syclone 4610A based on a friends opinion and the reviews on Amazon's site. I have been using this unit now for 4 months, and I could not be more pleased with the operation and performance. Quietest compressor I have ever used. The unit arrived at my shop with an inoperative regulator gauge. I called CSN and advised them of the problem, I told them I needed the part as soon as I could get it. Customer Service were the nicest folks and said they would get it on the way for next day delivery, I recv'd the part the next day as promised. I will go back to this store for many purchases. Thank you CSN and Amazon for a great price and product !!

Heavy and somewhat quiet, not incredibly quiet.
I'm a cabinet maker/installer of 25+ years, my last job site compressor was a Senco PC0968, great little compressor, and if it weren't for the welds leaking around the tank I would of never upgraded , I decided on the GMC for the Aluminum tank and supposedly "quiet" sound, and I'm a big General Motors guy so I felt comfortable buying it."Quietness" After it arrived I was very surprised at how big this thing was and how heavy.. I plugged it in and noticed immediately it was not nearly as quiet as the videos they use in marketing the compressor, I suppose anything would be considered quiet when you compare it to a PorterCable Pancake compressor, which is probably the loudest compressor on the market."Weight" For the mobile contractor, carrying this compressor can be a real strain, when you do onsite work and need to lug a compressor up a 2 story home, weight and size become important, my bad for thinking the weight wouldn't be a problem, Aside from the heaviness, it was bulky, couple these two together and I could see myself dreading to take it out of my work van. I could have gotten away with a 2 gallon tank instead of the 4, perhaps it would of worked out better for me, but it would still be bulky. The compressor is made in CHINA, I figured it was a GM product so it would be made here in the USA, NOT the case.. Fact is, most tools made in China are NOT built to last, they are built to replace, I make it a point and so should you to buy tools that will last, and if their made in Germany, Switzerland or the USA, they usually last forever, that's been my experience. The coupler fittings they give you are cheap, and they don't self connect, and both are positioned too close to the instrument plate, and the gauges are second rate. The pros? Somewhat quiet, It worked perfectly and it did not leak, and I liked the ball valve they installed for the drain. The compressor in my opinion is better suited for home stationary use, If your a professional and looking for a 4 gallon to drive a framing nailer or more than one nailer at the same time and you need a portable compressor, I suggest you get one on wheels, and buy a extra long hose for the upstairs. After talking to other woodworkers, they convinced me to go with the Thomas T-635HD compressor, and I'm glad I did.. It has a 2 Gal tank with a 1/2HP motor, and its proven to be quite adequate to drive my 16g nailers, Its quieter than the GMC and extremely lightweight, almost half the weight of the GMC, And best of all it's made in the USA, Pricey YES, but well worth it... If your on a budget, you can always buy one used on Ebay for under $200.

Can you hear me now?
**** Update 7/12/15 *****A part named "Support 2" cracked today. The compressor had always had a tiny leak, but I just ignored it over the years. Today theleak was a bit louder, and I tracked it down to a brass plug in on end of "Support 2". I removed the plug, applied some Teflon tape, and as I was reinstalling the plug the threaded end of "Support 2" cracked off. This is a cast metal part that was probably weak from day one. My fault for not taking it back and having the part replaced while the compressor was under warranty.I tried finding replacement parts online, but haven't had any luck yet. I'll be calling the 800 number to see what kind of crazy price they quote me for "Support 2".The rest of the compressor is still working great.******* ORIGINAL REVIEW ******As of 7/17/10, I will have purchased and used this compressor to install a rooms worth of baseboard, toe molding and window trim, so I cannot speak to the longevity of it, but it is rated for 3000 hours.I had never heard of GMC Power Equipment, but while visiting a local hardware store someone was purchasing this model. When the clerk fired it up, I could not believe how quiet it was, so I walked over to find out what kind of compressor the gentleman was buying. When I arrived home, I checked the 'net for reviews, but could not find any. I did find out that GMC Power Equipment made an aluminum tanked version, which made the compressor even more tempting. The only negative I could find, and the reason I gave it four stars, is the relatively low CFM at 90 PSI. I'm splitting hairs here though, because my ultra-loud and heavy pancake compressor only manages 2.6 PSI at 90 PSI, which is plenty for finish trim nailers. Also, with this model being so quiet, you won't mind having it cycle to keep up with demand.Needless to say I bought this compressor. When I picked it up, the clerk fired it up in the store and once again a crowd of guys gathered around to see which compressor was running so quietly. For something so quiet, it draws a crowd. This compressor it is very well built and well balanced. It is also extremely quiet. Did I mention it's quiet? We're talking easily carry on a conversation while standing right in front of it quiet. It's amazing. At this time I highly recommend this compressor. Unless you need the extra durability of the steel tanks (things slamming in the compressor all of the time), get the aluminum tank version for $10 more and save your back. One thing I couldn't find online was the weight of the compressor. The aluminum version weighs about 44 pounds according the the Wii Fit board... don't tell my wife. :)

A civilized air compressor
I'm a light duty air compressor user. It will pump air into my bicycle and car tires. Once in a while I'll use it to blow dust off something or other. So the main consideration for me was simply whether or not I could tolerate using the compressor as most of them are incredibly noisy. Well, this one is not. Friends of mine who are familiar with air compressors are impressed with the GMC's quietness. Having said that, of course it functions very well for the tasks I ask it to do. No problems whatsoever once I figured out that teflon tape was essential for making all the connections. Also, the built in gauges appear to be quite accurate.
