Better than expected...
This book is better than it deserves to be. Comer is a serious Cobra enthusiast and I appreciate and relate to that - but he's not a particularly refined writer and it shows. Too much first-person narrative and too many remarks that one would expect from a young sycophant. It's nice to admire the likes of Carroll Shelby and those who put the Cobra on the map, but it's another to swoon over them. Otherwise, the book is quite good with a nice selection of surprisingly fresh photos and some interesting historical tidbits that aren't a general rehash of the standard Cobra history that has become more than a little varnished with time. As one who has collected just about everything even remotely related to the history of the Cobra, I have no regrets having bought this book. My only complaint concerned the shipping - as my book came with a damaged spine and a seriously crimped corner - but that's the fault of Amazon, not the author!

Just buy it already
This book is the perfect coffee table reference to the history of Shelby American, filled with hundreds of color photos and detailed write ups of the legendary events this upstart auto manufacturer/race team undertook are inspiring. This is a must buy.

Excellent book on Cobra history
If you have any interest in Shelby Cobras, then read this book. It's very informative and thoroughly covers the history of the Cobra including several great interviews with many of the people that worked behind the scenes to make the Cobra the most iconic American sports car. The photos alone are worth the price of the book. This is much more than just a pretty coffee table book - read it and enjoy it! Highly recommended.

This book is a great addition to my Shelby/Cobra/Mustang library
This book is a great addition to my Shelby/Cobra/Mustang library. It offers many quality photos of the Cobra thru the years both on the track and the street. The book traces the car chronologically from it's beginning to now. If you are a modeler, it offers may detail shots. It is a must for any Shelby and or Cobra fan.

"COLLECTOR'S EDITION", But ?
Well "FOLKS" I'd like to say Colin did it again, but? My other Amazon reviews speak for Colin with my favourite book of Colin's being:"SHELBY COBRA FIFTY YEARS". As I mentioned in my review on that book it is a definite 5 Star rating & quite possibly the best Cobra book ever ! Of course it is not the "Bible" on Cobras as the SAAC Registry is but it is an incredible read chock full of great photos, interviews, etc, So why only a 4 Star rating for "SHELBY COBRA"- THE SNAKE THAT CONQUERED THE WORLD ? Make no mistake this is also a great book but it's a copy of "SHELBY COBRA FIFTY YEARS" using all the same photos. Near the end of the book starting on page 254 ending at page 261 there is a short section titled:"MEMORIES OF CARROLL SHELBY" including interviews with Henry Ford lll, Phil Remington's daughter Kati, John Morton, Chuck Cantwell, etc, etc. There are two centre type fold outs of artist's colour drawings (art) but that's about the only difference in the two books & of course the covers.Really maybe I jumped the gun on this book as I assumed maybe in the past before Carroll's passing him & Colin had sat down talking with Carroll giving us some new untold stories but there's just those seven interviews starting on page 254. If you the reader of this review have already obtained a copy of "SHELBY COBRA FIFTY YEARS" don't get your hopes up as I did about reading never before published CS stories or observing a whole lot of new photos. This book really is just a copy of the above with a few add-on's. Still it is a great book but I assumed more as I still believe "SHELBY COBRA FIFTY YEARS" is the best book on Cobras ever. Of course this latest book on Cobras by Colin I assumed from reading his other books was just going to be better yet but really for the price I was a little disappointed. Again I must mention it's a great book but me personally I was expecting more but how much more is there?. The book is a CS Official Licensed Product & as the rear cover reads a "COLLECTOR'S EDITION".Of course it's a keeper to park in my CS library. If I had never saw these two books picking them up for the first time noting the price difference with all the same photos in the cheaper of the two books other than the last chapter & the two fold outs included in the "COLLECTOR'S EDITION", I think I'd be contemplating the cheaper book. But me being a "COBRA ADDICT" as soon as I read the name Colin Comer & the title I had to have it! Maybe I expected too much as with Colin's books they just always seemed to get better & better. Oh well, I guess I've got a "COLLECTOR'S EDITION" & many beautiful duplicate photos, etc, etc.
