I have a ceiling light in one room that takes 3 GU10 bulbs. I replaced the halogen bulbs with dimmable LEDs which made it incompatible with the standard dimmer switch that was in use. I did see some reviews from people who seemed to have problems with it but, given that the majority of the reviews are positive, I thought that I'd give it a try. However it works fine for me. It was easy to install & now my lights dim without any buzzing or flickering. The price was quite a bit less than what I would have paid in a high street store. Please note that as I was quite happy with the minimum brightness level as it was out of the box, I have not tried to adjust it & so cannot comment on this feature.

I replaced six tungsten halogen bulbs with dimmable LEDs, flicked very badly, reading up LED dimmers it needed trailing edge dimmers and a low load capability. Smart Spring dimmer read that it did both so swapped the dimmer and all worked perfectly, including low light level, the light level changed smoothly on rotation of the knob switching on and off by pressing the knob. 4 stars because I had to bend back one fixing lug and file about a 1mm off the other lug so it fitted between the two vertical screw fixing lugs.

Easy to install and smart looking, this gives good control over lighting and comes with decent size screws and caps to cover them.

As a fully qualified electrician of 23 years with multiple accreditation’s I can tell you that this dimmer is totally fit for purpose. It is a good quality item. I write this as I’ve read some bad reviews and thought I’d put the record straight. Yeah be fitted this in my own home, it’s perfectly fine.Maybe others who have left poor reviews have overtightened the terminals or been too heavy handed when installing. I doubt a qualified electrician would blame the switch so perhaps a bit more practice at installing accessories would help.In summary, this switch is perfectly adequate and works a treat on LED lighting that is designed to be dimmed.

Well, it *was* pretty good, but it started flickering after only 14 months. Somewhat disappointing. In my experience a very low lifetime is extremely common in Chinese made power electronics and you are likely to see the same issue with 99% of dimmer switches from Amazon. Still...

These work well with LED dimmable bulbs - I've only used in conjunction with mains voltage GU10. The dimmer has an internal adjustment that lets you set the minimum dimmer level. This can eliminate flickering. Other reviewers complained these are not robust. They seemed fine to me - just make sure there are no wires trapped behind the dimmer unit, otherwise you might put too much force on the faceplate, which could explain it cracking.If you have dimmable halogen MR11 bulbs, consider converting your fittings to GU10 rather than replacing the 12v transformer (which would need replacing by a dimmable LED transformer at considerable expense otherwise). You can buy the GU10 socket with tails cheaply in multipacks and replace both transformer and the MR11 socket with these - then you don't have to worry about getting compatible LED transformers.

Bought this to replace an old non-LED one. It works OK without any flicker although the build quality is a little on flimsy side comapred to the one I took off, i.e. the rotating knob is not as strong and wobbles if presure is put on the side of it, hence 4 stars.

The load presented is now lower than your dimmer switch is designed to handle.This replaced non-Led dimmer. Simple enough if you read and follow the instructions. You do have to ‘tune’ it - essentially it has a screw to match it to the load on the circuit - with the cover not screwed up and powered on. Not difficult but if you are not comfortable with handling a ‘live’ socket you may prefer to ask an electrician to install.No more flicker!
