Ignore that negative review, go with the majority
It's too bad a single negative review can gain such high priority. I put off buying this blanket earlier this winter after reading that one bad review about the transformer buzzing. My ears are sensitive to high pitch sounds and I figured maybe I shouldn't chance it. However, my old electric blanket died and I was in the market again. Over time, enough positive reviews and comments did the product justice. I finally bought the Cal King version and I'm glad I did. My advice is to do what I did: buy it, carefully unpack it just enough to plug in the transformer and see for yourself if it buzzes. If it does, send it back. Yes, there is a faint transformer sound, but I could not hear it without pressing my ear tightly against the box. I'm glad I took the chance.Transformer issue aside, here is my review.Pros:1) Heat coming from the bottom poses no issues versus traditional top heating blanket2) Cannot feel the wires3) Dual controls well lit4) Controls do not make clicking sound when turning on/off like our old electric blanket5) 10 hour shutoff very useful once you get used to it6) Wire positions at the top better for our set up (don't have to run wire under mattress to bottom of blanket, like our old one)7) Capable of very high heatCons, but not really:1) Can get too hot. Even my wife, who used to sleep with the old electric blanket on high, sets hers on 3 now. I set it at 2 at the highest. But bear in mind we are in S. California where it does not get nearly as cold as other parts of the country. This blanket should be able to keep anyone warm through the coldest of nights2) You need to be aware of the 10 hour timer when you turn on your blanket and when you would want it to turn off. For most people, 10 hours is plenty enough of a time window, but, if you are like my wife, you turn on the blanket much earlier than when you go to bed, you need to adjust your timing so that you don't turn it on too early. For example, if you get up at 7:00am, you would turn your blanket on the night before no earlier than 9:00pm if you want it to stay on right until you get up. I like the idea of an auto off because I hate to see the control light on in the middle of the day like it sometimes happened before. If you plan on sleeping more than 10 hours, you'd have to wake up sometime in between the 10 hour cycle and turn the blanket on and off to reset the 10 hour timer3) Instruction warnings indicate that the wires are more fragile than traditional electric blankets. This may be the most serious Con for us, since we still have young kids who aren't beyond jumping on our bed sometimes. We'll just have to stay aware of thisSomehow, the warmth this produces is much better than our old electric blanket. It seems to keep you warm without you ever actually feeling the heat (unless you have it set high). So, don't hesitate to buy this blanket. Take advantage of Amazon's return policy if you get a bad one or, maybe, the issue is your home's wiring.

Why did I wait so long?
I've used Electric Blankets for years. When I moved 6 months ago I got a larger Ca King Sleep Number bed. While I was fine back then, I've been cold lately. I couldn't take it anymore and so then it was what should I get, another Electric Blanket or try a Heated Mattress Pad?!?! So I started doing some Google searches and from what I've been reading, Electric Blankets are Far more Popular in the U.S. while Electric Mattress Pads are far more Popular in Europe. Then I started reading the Pro's of going with the Mattress Pad.Things like since the Pad is on the Bottom, the heat is blocked by the Mattress and of course Heat rises. This means you don't need to crank the heat up like on a Blanket. There's not much blocking heat from escaping from a blanket and just leaving you. Blankets get thrown off, and balled up and can cause a fire. You don't really have that issue with a Mattress Pad. With this one, It's low DC power going though the Mattress Pad. Not the High AC Voltage of a Electric Blanket! The Wires on this Pad are far smaller and more even then on a Electric Blanket. I can't feel the wires at all! When you turn it on and it's warmed up, Putting you hand on the Pad, You really don't feel the heat at all, but once you lay down on it, it feels so nice!!! I wish I did this years ago!Now I've seen the reviews from some that say they hear a noise from the transformers, this is what converts the AC power to DC low voltage power. I have to say I can't hear anything from mine. I turned it on and had the transformer in my hand and didn't hear anything at all. Even holding it up to my ear! I was a little worried about it from the reviews here, but there's zero sound. No buzzing, no nothing. Did I get lucky? Did they Improve them after these other people got theirs?!?! Does it start Noise free but after so long it'll start making noise?! Who knows, but right now I'm really happy.I'm nice and warm on my side of the bed I sleep at, I move my leg over to the other side and it's ice old. What a huge difference. I was only set at a low 4, not quite half way on the dial, almost to warm for me, but what a nice even, all around heat. It really is night and day. Never again will I buy a Electric Blanket. How it became so popular in the U.S. over a Electric Mattress Pad, who knows?!?!P.S. I also like the fact that the Plug connectors are at the head of the Bed. 2 controls on my CA King, so one on each corner, so yes you need a outlet for each. I'm using a power strip. Electric Blankets and some other Electric Mattress Pads the plug(s) are on the Feet end and then you have to run the cable back to the head of the bed. I can understand this for a blanket, but seems silly for a Mattress pad. Give this a try, you'll love it! Climb into a Warm Bed, not a ice cold one! Sleep in comfort, not shivering!!!

QUIT WORKING 5 days after the return period was up. PLUG GETS VERY HOT! CAREFUL!
I purchased this item on January 6, 2024. 35 days after purchased the lower section quit working and the plug on the wire from the controller to the pad gets HOT! I am afraid to use this. I'm old enough to remember the fires caused by electric blankets shorting out so I don't think is safe to use in my house. The only warranty I can find is the standard 30 Amazon return policy so I guess I'm out $50. SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE.

Good product, just don't over wash it!
We liked it, but the coils inside are a bit of a pain. Also after washing it, we found it didn't quite work as well as it did in the beginning. After about 1 yr, of use and washing it several times, the one side stopped working completely. That said I gave it 4 stars, because I don't think it was intended to be washed as much as my wife washed it. And it worked perfect when we received it and for some time after. It took lots of abuse as my wife is a bit of clean person and washes all the sheets every week to include this so it probably endured a lot more abuse then was expected. We loved it up until it died, the additional wires were also great for the extra control, but kind of annoying as well having all those extra wires under our bed.
