Is it worth the $$ over the 20 volt model?

If you have other 60 V tools I'd say yes. It's significantly more powerful than the 20 V blower and it even rivals a good hand held gas blower. It also comes with a 9 Ah battery. It's only pricey if this is your only 60 V tool.

Is the "60v max* 3ah battery" a typo? other websites say a 9ah battery is included.

The reason they call it a 3Ah battery is because at 60V, it is a 3Ah battery. At 20V, it's a 9Ah battery but since this is a 60V tool, it's a 3Ah battery. But for all intents and purposes, yes, it comes with a 9Ah battery.
