very good book
My wife and I wanted to learn a bit of Hebrew so we could attempt to read the Bible in Hebrew. This book was a good way to start to understand the meanings behind each character. I found the font they used a bit difficult to read (although it did look artistic it was a difficult font to read...and they wrote words at 90 degree angles for some reason which made you flip the book around...that was a bit frustrating)

Very enjoyable
As a self taught hebrew student, I've been interested in delving deeper into the mystic qualities of this special alefbet. This is a short but potent and beautifully written addition to my library that I am very happy about.

This is a beautifully crafted and elegant book
This is a beautifully crafted and elegant book. When I first opened this book I was stunned by the lovely flowing script of Rabbi Kushner's hand writing and it is a precious part of my library. While this book is a brief foray into the living vibrancy of the Aleph-Bet, I highly recommend it. Toda Raba!

Hebrew letters - meanings and more
Lawrence Kushner is a great author and more than one of his volumes rest on our bookshelves. I bought this for my husband and he pretty much devoured it.The book says it is meant for children but we both disagree with the idea that "only" children will get value reading this book.Yes, get it for your child if you want but don't hesitate to open it up just for yourself especially if you are interested in some of the kabbalist ideas on Hebrew letters.

Delightful representation of the Aleph Beit
A delightfully informative and revelatory calligraphic representation of the Hebrew Aleph Beit (alphabet) which I will use in my school. Thank you.

Utter perfection
You wouldn't think that an alphabet could touch your soul - but Lawrence Kushner's Book of Letters, the Jewish alef beit, does just that. Each letter is unique and significant. If you want confirmation that G-d inspired the author, read the final paragraph on page 31, referring to Dalet. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is examining Hebrew on a deeper level.

A beautiful book.
Beautiful book. Written in calligraphy by hand. Hebrew is written right to left, and this book is to be read back to front, even though it is in English. A very insperational book.
