Great filter for backpacking and emergency
Being a avid hiker and living up here in the mountains, Im always looking for easier ways to lighten my load and find innovative products that can be useful to me. So after seeing an ad on Facebook for the h2o Survival Straw I thought I'd check it out. I looked at the others offered on amazon and it looked like they all basically did the same thing. Filter out bacteria and some viruses. Great. But the prices really varied as did the straw sizes , features and capabilities. So the choice came down to where do i get my moneys worth? I ultimately decided that the H2o survival straw offered the best value for all that it offered. It came with a water filter bag, and extra filter for debris filled water and it had a plunger so that I could flush and clean it out. I thought why doesnt every straw have this? It definitely wasnt the cheapest straw , but it wasnt the most expensive either. So I went middle of the road on price but i think i got the best one. I tried it out this past weekend at a local pond and it was definitely easy to use. I had to suck hard a few times to get it started but no big deal. I even too took a empty plastic coke bottle and filled it up and squeezed it thru the straw into a my thermos. That really worked great and that wasn't even why i bought it! ( didnt really realize you can do that until I read the instruction manual) but thats now my favorite feature of this straw! I now think i will pick up so more of these cause this would be nice to keep in my trucks glove compartment.

Love it!
This is my first review as I usually don't feel compelled to review hiking gear. I just bought the H20 Survival Straw and am very pleased when I got it. I'm an avid backpacker and often hike and camp in areas around lakes and ponds so good gear is important to me. I read a lot about water filter straws in general and after researching a few particularly the life straw and aqimira straw I came across the H20 survival straw. I checked out specs on all 3 and found that the H20 Survival Straw actually exceeded both of them in its ability to filter water sources. I particularly liked this one because it came with an extra 3 Ed attachable filter for sediment and its double 2 stage filter actually has smaller filter holes that I feel will catch bacteria and viruses better. I have had other straws and they worked ok but they clogged up too fast. The fact that this one comes with a back flush plunger I thought was a great idea!! I also thought the collapsible water bottle was a great extra for the price (under 20 bucks$ because carrying water while hiking is heavy and cumbersome and I need to travel light. I tested it out locally at a lake and it worked perfectly. I'm really excited to have it on my next camping trip.

Working Well for Me in Asia
I just got to India and started using my new survival straw. I am very grateful to have it considering the state of the water supply in this part of the world. Several friends have gotten sick here, so I’m being very careful, using the straw even on bottled water, as sometimes people sell bottled water that’s been filled from the contaminated tap supply.A couple of minor issues: The cap is pretty stiff and difficult to remove. Mine broke off the plastic that attaches it to the bottle first time I tried getting the dang thing off. Also, since the piece of hose is a handy way to use the device, it would be great if it came packaged with a 12” bit of tubing that fits the straw. That said, I’m delighted with my purchase. The amount of water one can use this for is a real plus, and I'm using the plastic bottle with the straw attached as my standard drinking method.

It's as if a child packaged this in 1990
Be aware of all the reviews. There are 9 reviews right now and 5 of them have been written by "people" who only have one review and of course they all gave it 5 stars. This is the obvious clue that they are fake.As soon as I saw the printed out instructions, and printed on an inkjet printer with tech from the 1990s, and saw the very obviously Photoshopped photos of people supposedly using this I was suspicious. The device also has a very simple sticker as a label. I haven't used it but probably never will and totally agree with all your points. Really, wouldn't any company print their labels on at least a color laser printer if they wanted to be taken seriously? If they cut corners there are we to really risk our lives on what's inside it?? Also, what's with the fake photos? How hard is it to just get somebody to use it against a tub outside? It's as if someone just bulk ordered a bunch of these from somebody then just doctored up photos and printouts in order to resell them so they can sell them immediately without having to leave their desk.Stick with a name brand that has been proven and trusted like Sawyer. Sure it sucks the Sawyers don't filter viruses, but people have been using them for years without any problems.I guess the only good thing about this is the little pre-filter attachment and extra filters. It fits on the Sawyer so I put them in with them.

I Really Like This Filter
Went down to a stagnate pond here in florida, 24 hours later I still feel great. I have all three, lifestraw, sawer and now H2o. I like the versatility of the H2o better plus it filters more nasties, just read the chart. I will be ordering more of these!!
