Q: How do you install it?

Hello, please see the 3rd picture on the product page, which is the installation step. As shown in the figure, use the plastic crowbar to open the panel above the air vent of center console, put the base of the phone holder into below the panel, and then close the panel. We will give you a plastic crowbar for you. ^_^

Q: Can 6.75" long cell be rotated to horizontal w/o knocking into speedometer console area to its left?

Not sure. I always leave mine in portrait not landscape.

Q: Are there any potential issues of this scratching the silver portion?

No issues with scratching at all. This (the car mount part) is fantastic! Really as good as it gets. I wish Toyota and others just included stuff like this built in as a mount point. The only part I wish was better was the actual phone holder part, as they have made it too “generic” to cover apple and android, and multiple sizes (larger and smallet), so its not perfect. If they made 3-4 different sized versions, this will be the best phone holder on the market.

Q: can you adjust the vent opening (open, close, turn vent) while phone attached?

Yes, I can adjust the vent. I think it would depend on where you put the magnet in your case, mine is in the center.
