I have a few of these ice ball molds, but was anticipating good things with this one. The idea that it is translucent enough to see where the water level is: brilliant. The problem is the flimsiness of the silicone. Water leaks out of the sides when you try to fill it. And if you add hot water (which in other molds yields a clearer sphere), you risk burning yourself with the water when it leaks out of the sides. Tried the baking sheet underneath, but the silicone is not thick or strong enough to not bend a bit and spill the water over the sides in the middle. Most of the molds out there are black silicone, square, and yield only 4 iceballs. You have to learn about how much water you put in the bottom before you put the top mold in it and gently push it down until the water can be seen at the top where the holes in the mold are.With this mold, you can see how close you are to the top, but cannot fill it because the water will slosh out of the sides in the middle (or at least the one I got does). Some people say they have gotten nice round balls out of their Bartenders Secret molds. I don't think they could get them with the mold that I eagerly awaited, and was so deeply disappointed in. I wavered about giving it a single star, but that says I hate it, and I rarely get that emotional about an inanimate object. These molds were a brilliant idea in the abstract with the translucent top, but the manufacture with the top and bottom not quite a firm fit, and not having a few more millimeters of silicone was poorly done. A Japanese design, Kotobuki uses hard plastic in two molds. One makes three large balls, and another also white hard plastic, makes 4 smaller ones like this mold is supposed to. It works.The Bartenders secret is the only one I have seen that attempts 6, but doesn't cut it.

Got it in today and made the kids kool aid ice cubes for their kool aid. Absolutely love it. Later I will make more adultBeverages. I purchased this product at a discounted rate for an unbiased review.

Perfect for keeping my drinks icey cold

The seal between the upper and lower trays is not great so water leaks in between. Maybe it is my technique. Still makes good cubes--but not perfect.

I've been known to like some whiskey at times and having some ice balls in my glass just seals the deal. Super easy to make and our friends love it when they come over. Great product!!
