Update: pretty cool if you want it to fall apart in your pocket
Found out several things with infrequent use and deploying from pocket:1. The metal is soft. Don't use it for everyday cutting... save it for when you really need it2. The knife came apart in my pocket, exposing the blade. I found this out by reaching into my pocket and touching the edge... not cool. I did not locktite it, but I don't do that with my other blades, and have never had a problem. Parts were lost, so I couldn't put it back together.3. Customer service sucks. I notified them what happened, and sent a picture. They said they shipped me a new one, but didn't provide a tracking number. 1-2 weeks later I followed up asking where it was. They said they sent it. I continued to wait, but it never showed up, and I never got a tracking number. Finally gave up. Don't count on them to stand behind their product.Original Review:I could write all the ways in which this is not a $100+ knife, but that's not fair to it. The bottom line is this is an amazing value. Try not to cut yourself... this thing is SHARP.I think I'm going to try to Dremel out the wave feature to try to make it work even better. I actually own a Fox 599 (like the other reviewer, lol) and I like it's deeper wave.

Great first Karambit
I have been looking for a karambit knife for awhile now. I decided on purchasing the Black Fox Bear Claw as my first and I was NOT disappointed. The knife looks like the picture you see. It comes with an additional clip and a screw driver tool, if you want to switch the clip to the opposite side of the knife for left handed folks. The knife is very sharp right out of the box. It measurements are what is described in the description. It is not a heavy knife, which I like it does not even feel like it is in my pocket. You have several options for opening the knife. I have never used a thumb hole instead of a thumb stud to open a knife, after a little practice it is easy. Your other option is to drag it out of your pocket and it opens as you pull it out of your pocket. There is a little hook above the thumb hole that catches on your pocket, as you are pulling if from you pocket it pulls the blade open. After a few practices of pulling it from my pocket, the blade is locked into place and ready to use immediately if you need to use if for protection. It is easy to deploy the blade and to restore the blade back into the knife. The entire knife fits really good in my hand. I like the bear claw look of the blade and the finger hole at the end of the knife to put your finger in it so it can't be knocked from your hand. The knife is easy to hold with the blade in front with your pinky in the finger hole or with the knife reversed so the blade is below the little finger as you make a fist and your index finger through the finger hole (for self defense only?) . The finger hole is large for those of us who have big fingers. The grip is textured so you can get a good grip.Overall, this is a solid knife. If you are looking for a first karambit knife this is the one you want. I am definitely satisfied with it. It is a good price if you don't want to spend a lot of money to see if you are going to like this style of knife. I am going to use it as my every day carry for awhile to see how it works other than for self defense.I am really glad I got it. I am now looking at fixed blades or I may just buy another one of these as a backup. jw.

Fast Draw!
Wicked fast deployment from pocket. I have an OTF and this is actually faster to pull and move to target than the OTF which is what I had hoped for. This is the only way I have seen to setup a folding Karambit to actually be useful for defense. I don't understand why the other brands are not done in this format other than Fox.I did have to switch the pocket clip to the other side to use a forward pull. It comes with the extra clip and screwdriver so that was easy. I would like extra screws just in case but that is not a real issue, they uns crewed and went back in fine. Just make sure to apply pressure so you don't strip the screw head. The shark tooth blade glided right through the standard Amazon cardboard box it came in easily. The handle circle head sits high outside the pocket so easy to grab with index finger. This blade will definitely tear through skin so be very careful.Just got it so will have to wait on durability.

Pretty amazing for the price
I'm no expert on Karambits, but bought this one as a starter to see if it was something I would be into. Comes super sharp and scary, the curve is beautiful and the all black model has a simple utilitarian aesthetic I appreciate. Fits my hand and pocket perfectly, other karambits seemed too large to be a practical edc. The opening mechanism using the emerson wave method works stunningly well, and with very little practice you can have this thing in hand ready to party. Solid and satisfying. From a day to day usage standpoint I am also impressed with this guy, used for cutting painters masking plastic, as a box cutter and for shaving wood for fires. The shape really gives you alot of control and options, especially with finer cutting needs you can lay your index finger on the back of the blade and almost use it like a scalpel.Maybe one day I'll upgrade to the fox but for now this thing is amazing, especially for the price.Word of warning: I do agree with some people's reservations about the karambit "fad" and from a self defense perspective this is not a normal knife. Its ergonomics are unique and you need to get used to its peculiarities. You should probably buy a cheap trainer karambit to get a feeling for how this thing moves in the hand and the angles that work for it.
