constant companion
I once joked with friends that my entire musical history could be described as "searching for Karen Carpenter". When I was 13 Karen sang every emotion I was experiencing - expressing what I hadn't learned to yet. And that is what I look for in music, the expression of what I don't have words of my own for, coloring in my world for me. The search has led me to discover many wonderful artists and eventually led me to Rumer. Rumer's warm voice and expressive singing are everything I've been looking for and her music is a constant in my life now.

Give this girl a shot -- listen to the voice.
She has an amazing voice. Most of the cuts on her cds are very understated. Her voice is in the territory of Karen Carpenter and Dusty Springfield.

... a lot of people out how she often sounds like Karen Carpenter
It freaks a lot of people out how she often sounds like Karen Carpenter. If you can get over that, and you like Karen Carpenter, you will definitely like this album. It's stuff that Karen Carpenter might have done.

a very fine voice
i have been a big fan of rumer's ever since i saw her on Daryls house. she has such a fine voice that you don't hear very much in todays music. it was good to see that she used some of daryl hall musicians on this cd. the songs are all original and have a very nice feel to them.

Good trip back into the past
Very nice and smooth album. I agree with the Carpenters comparisons, especially the first few songs really bring back that sound. Personally I find the quieter songs a bit lacking in emotion, I don't want to quite say boring, but just not something that stands out. Her voice is good, but not great. If you listen to a great singer, like Karen Carpenter, or Tracey Thorn (of everything but the Girl) or Corinne Drewery (of Swing Out Sister) they have an extra depth to their voices that they bring out that sends chills down my spine. Rumer can sing the melody, but can't get that depth. Maybe it is the producer/recording, which is ok but not glass-clear. Still, this is well done and this type of music is hard to find nowadays.

What a voice.
Just saw Rumer on her US tour. She is even better live than on CD. CD is very good. Mellow, yes. Her voice is amazing.

Excellant selection of Songs
I enjoyed this C D from the first time I played it..starts off with Is your Love to Dangerous, a light 70's Disco flavored song. This is a Adult Contemporary Jewel. She has a Karen Carpenter familiar voice type. I would also recommend her other two previous releases. RDC/KC

Better late than never, for me! This is just superb. Great songs delivered by a wonderful singer. The arrangements are perfect and if you just want to relax and enjoy good songs with good music, this cannot be faulted.

I Guarantee you will NOT be disappointed. Love this Girl
This Girl Brings back Real Music, Her voice is as near as we can get to a Karen Carpenter, Or A Dusty Springfield, i Find it hard to wonder why she is Not as public as Adele, Her voice and songs for me far out weigh Adele , As far as I know she had a Chart Entry with "Slow" , She needs to be far more appreciated than she is, Check out All her Albums, I Guarantee you will NOT be disappointed .Love this Girl, Hope you guys do to...

What an amazing singer. I now have three of her CD's, and they are in constant use. " Better place ", on this CD, is such a phenomenal song.
