Bible Wines: Or, the Laws of Fermentation and Wines of the Ancients
Great book/tool to help one truly understand the term "wine" as used in the Bible from a historical and practical stance. #1 book in my opinion.

Wisdom
A very in depth look into Bible wines. Very qualified and knowledgeable men break the topic down for easy reading and quick understanding. Definitely a great book. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking biblical knowledge about the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

When I bought the book I wasn't aware that the author was part of the 'abstinence movement'
The Bible does not condemn any consumption of Alcohol; whether: spirits, wine (fermented wine), or beer etc. Drinking in moderation is always best. But neither does the Bible condone drinking in excess to the point of drunkeness. As for the wine fermentation: grape juice can ferment on its own; without adding additional yeast; normally and naturally all grapes contain: bacteria, molds, and yeast. Yes, yeast! In the example of the Lord's Supper... fresh grape juice would not have been available at the Passover because the Jews did not have the means generally to preserve grape juice that long and keep it from fermenting. It would not have remained unfermented from harvesttime in the fall until Passover in the springtime. Hence, Jesus offered his apostles fermented wine and not simply grape juice.Jesus drank fermented wine, modestly. Wine that he miraculously made from water at the wedding in Cana. The result was that the religious leaders falsely accused him: "The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds" Matthew 11:19 NIV. Now, why was Jesus' accused of being a drunkard? Was it because he drank grape juice? You could only get intoxicated by drinking fermented wine in excess.John 2:9, 10: "and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink (intoxicated); but you have saved the best till now.” NIV

Revealing and convicting on many levels
This book is the best in depth explanation of a very contested subject in the Bible, “alcohol”. Studying this book is highly recommended If you want to be a better person and a better witness for the Lord.

Biblical views Of fermentation and the way God looks at drinking
This precious book settles many many arguments about what the Bible teaches about drinking wine and other alcoholic beverages. It teaches the biblical view of fermentation and what is biblical about drinking in the Bible. This book really has blessed my heart as it will yours when you see the truth.

Glad it is still in print.
I loaned an early edition and it didn't come back. Was delighted to find it still available. Bought one for myself and another for a friend.

Good Grief and Useless
This book has a subtitle about the "laws of fermentation" about which I teach and cook. Well, this little gem has nothing to do with how to make wines like they did in the Bible, it is a 90-some page, one man rant about the lies and the supposed twists that make wine OK in the Bible, but Mr. Patton as decided they meant "juice" and that wine is BAD. Urgh!I make rustic wines, as little modern chemical help as possible, I was looking for some old fermentation guidance. This is not it.AND it was so old the first time I opened it the binding came undone and every page fell out. So much for a return.I have purchased many books online, this is the only one I have been disappointed in.

Did Jesus turn water into alcohol?
The Bible would never contradict itself, but many today do not know what "wine" in biblical times was talking about. Do you want to know what the biblical laws of fermentation were? Read this.
