Q: Can you fit a dslr with a typical 18-140mm lens in the main compartment?

Mine is a Lowepro Ridgeline BP 250 AW - I can fit my my Sony A7r2 in (lens attached) with no issue. Only issue I can forsee is trying to cramp in a DSLR with vertical grip. As the bag is rather deep, I got a separate camera insert bag placed at the base of the backpack. My camera can rest on the inner bag, making it easier to retrieve and shoot. A rolled up windbreaker can serve a similar purpose too.

Q: Does this bag come with a hip belt?

There is a small light weight hip strap. But this bag isn’t designed to carry a lot of weight. It’s more of a commuter bag so if you’re looking to carry a large amount of weight I’d look for a different option.

I have a 15" MacBook Pro (mid 2015) and it fits perfectly. The main compartment is large enough for your Asus, but it may not fit in the built-in laptop sleeve.

Q: Is the bottom padded for protection or made of some more durable material for more wearability?

If your concern is laptop or tablet damage they are suspended and do not go to the bottom of the bag. The built in rain cover is on the bottom and gives it some cushion as well. I love the bag! It’s compact with surprisingly ample storage for all my computer related gear.
