MegaUniversal - Brightest 18W 4-Feet T8 LED Tube Lights, Frosted Cover, 60W Fluorescent Tube Replacement (1-Pack, Cool White)

I ordered 5 or 6 boxes of these. I ordered 2 boxes the first time to see how I liked them and they were pretty good. Only one bad bulb in the batch of 10 (the LED strip in the bulb had come loose and you could see the individual LEDs. They sent me a replacement box right away and I was supposed to send back the box with the bad bulb. I had already installed them all and needed quite a few more anyway so I ordered another couple boxes and out of those 10 bulbs, another bulb was bad with about a 1-foot section of LEDs that wouldn't illuminate. So then I ordered my final 2 boxes and they were horribly packed (wrote a separate shipping/packing review on this). They came with a bunch of broken bulbs so I added them to my collection of bad bulbs to send back.As far as the ones that work though... I am very happy with them. Good color temperature for my workshop and a good quantity of light. However, every single box came without any installation instructions whatsoever so I had to research other manufacturer websites for installation instructions. The only clue I had was that on one end of the bulb it said "L" and "N", which is obviously Line and Neutral, so that was enough to get me going. The tubes do have a "direction" to them in that if you install them upside down, there is a little dark spot on the underside.So overall I'm happy with them and would recommend them, but am downgrading a couple stars for the failure rate, the poor packaging, and the lack of instructions. If you order a bunch, maybe order a few more tubes than you need so you have a few spares in case you need to send some back.

Let me be clear. The product works provides good light, at least as good as the fluorescent it replaced, and I give the light a 5 star. I would give the light tube a 4 star but it's only a week old and I don't give 5 stars without some indication of reliability. Okay, I won't know when a LED device is is reliable for years, so maybe that's not fair, but I'm a hard grader.But the light tube loses at least another star because THERE ARE NO DIRECTIONS OR WIRING DIAGRAM with the product, and there are at least two different types of LED light tubes on the market that have to be wired differently. (As I discovered after the purchase). Plus, the 5-pack MegaUniversal shares a page with the 4-pack and the 1-pack, and those products appear to be of the other type, though the Product Description on the Amazon web page is the same. I wired the bulbs as the Product Description directed ("simply bypass the existing ballast and connect the hot wire to one end and the neutral wire to the other end"). No light. Poring over the customer reviews, I found that some customers reported success from following the Product Description directions, while others reported success wiring it as a Single-Ended tube. These wirings are incompatible. My light tubes were Single-Ended and worked fine when they were wired right (as in the review from Rob dated Nov 11 2015). Too bad the Product Description contradicts the title, and is WRONG.

I really like these lights! Bright beyond all get out. Pretty easy to install if you're a little handy. I prefer to have the 110 VAC and cut out the ballist. Instant on.. If these last half as long as I think they will them I'm very happy! Don't forget to put in warning signs for the next guy who changes the bulbs and needs to know what's hot!

These lamps not only save energy but also provide much more light than the traditional lamps that they replaced. The light is very cool in color, but for the laundry room where they are it is fine. In order to use these lamps the fixture that they are installed has to be rewired and the ballast removed. Each lamp has a small wiring diagram to aid is this at one end of the lamp. If you do not feel qualified or comfortable rewiring, this is not the product for you unless you hire someone to do the job.

This posting advertises "Easy Installation. Components Saving. No ballast and starter required." This is absolutely NOT TRUE! If you try to put these lights into a non-ballast fixture, you can look forward to a blown circuit breaker or massive electrical damage! These lights are NOT for fixtures without ballast! The product works great in a fixture with a ballast, but that is NOT what I thought I was buying based on what is advertised.

Good replacement after rewiring my fixtures. Two came defective -- wasn't worth sending back. After a few weeks they seemed to be not quite as bright -- maybe that's just the 'nature of the beast.'

Very happy with these--instant on, nice warm (in my case) light , lower energy consumption, working fine for 6 months so far. Bypassing the ballasts on my three double kitchen fixtures was no big deal, and then they fit right in. Bob's your uncle! Nicely packed, shipped.

Three bulbs in the box of 5 appeared to be assembled too long. I made 2 of them work by taping in the fixture. The other was 0.4 inches too long and I couldn't make it work. Quality is an issue!!!!
