Four CD collection from the eccentric Britpop band. Back in 1987, Cud band vocalist Carl Puttnam sent a demo of his new band to John Peel. As the package travelled south Peel announced that he was binning all his unlistened demo tapes from his desk and starting anew, this time promising to listen to any he received from then on. Thanks to this twist of fate, two weeks later Cud were in the Beeb's Maida Vale studios. The band's affable charm, good wit and penchant for the unexpected ensured they were always welcome guests, recording sessions for John Peel, Mark Radcliffe, Mark Goodier, Gideon Coe, Andrew Collins and Stuart Maconie. All these recordings are collected here for the first time in this four CD set. Featuring alternative versions of all of their hits, a smattering of covers plus the full Carefree Sud session in all it's psychedelic glory, this is a captivating catalogue of Cud's career from 1987 to 2006. Including more than 50 unreleased tracks, the set is rounded off by the complete Sheffield Sound City gig which the band themselves consider to be one of their finest ever live performances.
