Helly Hansen Seven J Jacket

The rain coat fits well, is very comfortable, keeps me dry and looks great! Plus I think it is considerably less expensive than a North Face coat or similar well known brand. I am also impressed that the Velcro front overlap closes easily and the hood fits well and securely. The seams are all sealed so even in a hard rain there is good rain protection. I was also pleased that it was available in so many colors and the representations of the color choices were accurate. Regarding size: I normally wear a XL and the XL fit perfectly. There is enough room for a fleece or another layer. It is not blousey or thin. Sharp rain jacket! I Highly recommend it!

Love it! I usually spend weeks or months hitting Amazon every once in a while when I am looking for something. I purchased one jacket and sent it back then purchased this jacket. It is wonderful! I am 6'00" 190 so I have a little Daddy bump and this fit perfectly. (point is, order one side up) The quality and workmanship are outstanding and it looks good. I just got back from putting it to the test. I went for a one hour hike in the Middle Run Recreation area in Northern Delaware in the pouring rain. (I am a rain hiker) I came back bone dry!! The jacket worked great and breathed properly and I was very comfortable. It was 56 degrees. Enjoy. I did NOT receive this jacket at a discounted rate for my honest review:) Now to find some pants.

This is my 4th Helly and I love them! You want a totally comfortable rain jacket that keeps you bone dry and is so breathable that you never feel clammy then buy a Helly! Just read the reviews for any particular model or style; they vary and you have to know what you are looking for. I like these simple jackets like the Seven J because I can wear them over sweaters, turtlenecks or summer shirts and stay dry and comfortable. They are light, packable and versatile; I always take my Helly on any trip and, with layering, I need no other coat.

Mostly works. Price was right. I’m 74 years old, 6 ft and 195 lbs. I’m a huge HH fan. I have a 40 year old HH water/wind resistant running suit I’m still using. I needed a rainproof jacket for a series of hikes Im doing this fall, because my 40 year old REI parka delaminated. The HH large was a little bit too small and the extra large a little bit too big. I went w extra large because sometimes I’ll need a fleece or sweater layer underneath. Just wore it out in the rain for 15 minutes. Dry as a bone. Not a perfect test, but the best I can do until hiking for hours in a steady rain shows it works or fails. TBD. If anyone from Helly Hansen reads this, please add a Velcro tab or neck collar pocket to stow the hood. There is a Velcro tab, but for helmet adjustment. Im not skiing. Not useful for me.

Fantastic jacket to use while traveling. Compact, breathable, lightweight and great for rainy days! It runs true to size! So look at the measurements and choose wisely!

Oops, if you read my review on the women’s rain jacket, you will see that I bought two. One for my husband and one for me. Got them backward in my reviews but the important thing is that these jackets are really amazing and well worth the price. They will keep you completely dry, yet do not add bulk so you won’t feel overheated wearing it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality rainjacket that they will use for years.

My husband absolutely loves this jacket. Keeps him dry and looks stylish. I may get the woman’s version for myself! With every penny.

I love this Helly Hansen Jacket. I wear it at least twice a day to walk the dog, and at weekends to walk in the hills. Generally even if the weather is cold I don't wear too many layers underneath, once I get moving the heat I generate keeps me warm- and the hood is another essential protection from the sideways rain you get in the Yorkshire Dales. The Velcro adjustable cuff detail works well. Nicely crafted and what I'd expect from HH. One thing to note- I'm 6 foot tall and not heavily built, and the X-Large is a perfect fit. I'm a very happy customer ~ this is the best thing I've bought having re-located from London to North Yorkshire.

Only tested in light rain but it held fine, and I'm not sweating in it. Nice and light.

This HH seven J jacket is the best fitting waterproof shell jacket I have bought. I have a bit of a jacket thing and have purchased lots over the years. I have a rugby players frame and find it difficult to find a jacket that fits correctly. This one does it really well. It's great fitting in the arms and shoulders, but not baggy around the waist which makes it not only look good, but feel good too. YKK quality zips, inside phone pocket, adjustable shock cord hem. Windproof, waterproof and breathable with a taffeta mesh lining in the body and pockets. Great fabric, lightweight and soft, not stiff and crinkly like some more expensive waterproofs. I can highly recommend this jacket, and they're plenty of colours to choose from. Great value for money, especially if you find it in the sale.
