Even better than I expected
This is a well designed, well made and sturdy product. I installed it a few days prior to Sandy hitting the coast of southeastern Massachusetts and removed the pole from the mount in case the wind gusts were higher than expected. I'm not sure I needed to because we had nearly the same strength winds a week later and the pole and mount made it through just fine, as did the flag.Note that the mount is predrilled to be installed against a 2" x 12" stringer. Mine are 4" x 8" and I had to drill a couple of new holes which is easy to do. The mount is very thick aluminum and drills like wood. I also replaced the supplied hex bolts with galvanized bolts. I used a level to make sure the mount was plumb and ended up shimming the top a bit to get it right. With the pole fully erected, any shortcoming in this process will be exagerated dramatically.The telescoping mechanism works very well. I will hit the locking buttons with WD-40 a couple times a year to keep them lubricated. With the pole installed in the mount, it's a simple matter to hook on the flag with the included stainless steel caribiners, then push each section up until it locks in place. Lowering it is even easier since you have gravity on your side. The clear plastic rings rotate around the pole preventing the flag from twisting around the pole. Everything works extremely well, the included flag looks great, and I'm a happy camper.

Really nice product
Fairly easy to assemble. We do lower it in big storms or high winds. Bonus was the flag coming with it. Would definitely recommend.

It's done fine with 35 mph
No set screw for the flag pole, but I don't know if I would leave the pole in for any severe winds. It's done fine with 35 mph, but I think I'll take it out next time. The mount is well built. I changed out the hardware only because they were not long enough for my application.
