The glass is great but the handle feels light and cheap. The handle is metal but I was hoping for solid brass. It feels more like hollow aluminum.

Definitely worth the money. It ships in a really nice case too. It's heavier than I thought it would be which reflects the quality of the glass. I'm very happy with this product. A word of caution, I had one of these when I was a kid, I left it on the window sill in my bedroom and came home to find a room full of smoke and the drapes seconds from bursting into flames, so best return it to it's case once you are finish using it and let the kids know to take caution with it. Again, nice product.

I own a lot of art books, and having a good magnifying glass is vital for seeing and appreciating the small details in paintings and other art works. I had a beautiful magnifying glass for years that had a real seashell as the handle - I loved it because it was not only practical but beautiful to look at. The fragile handle finally broke off so I've been looking for a replacement and haven't been able to find anything close to what I had. This magnifying glass is a good option for now until I find something better. It's a little larger and heavier than I would like, but it works well and has a simple elegant look.

This is a nice, solid magnifier with decent optics. Seems to be a light alloy, possibly aluminum, with an epoxy powder coating that's closer to copper in color than to brass. Looks nice enough to leave out as a bit of decor, rather than hiding it in a desk drawer as you would with a cheapo plastic item.The "5x" rating is arrived at from unrealistic distances, but I think that's the case for all of these products. Under normal use, you get 2x-3x magnification.

We bought this for ourselves and it would make a very nice gift for a coin collector or anyone wanting magnification. It does get "heavy" for us older folks at times, but it is a quality product. We use it often to read the fine print on can goods and such. We especially like that it came with a case so that it does not get the glass scratched with putting it in our drawer. Nice, but a tad heavy after holding it for some time-at least for us. We would re-purchase and recommend.

I bought this as a gift for my husband and he is happy with it so far. I liked that it came with a case and cleaning cloth which is nice especially if you need to carry it with you. It is heavier than some magnifiers and is nicer looking than most.

Perfect magnifying glass for decor with real functionality! I bought this as a decor piece for my living room and it looks amazing! Sturdy yet lightweight, and great magnification. I would recommend this as a statement piece, but also for reading use at home (for the small print in some decorative coffee table books)! I would highly recommend this purchase!
