The lock is perfect for the emergency door
We are replacing the back entrance door in our church, and the new door only has a 2 1/8" hole for a lock. It's always bothered me that there are 2 locks on every entrance door and one of those is always a deadbolt-like lock that can't be opened if you don't have good finger use or you are a youngster who hasn't learned to operate an entrance lock and key--particularly in case of an emergency. I also wanted something that would weather the elements for a long time. So I looked around Amazon and found this lock. I like this company's indicator ideas, but I'm not looking for a bathroom lock right now (but maybe in the future). This "heavy-duty ADA entrance" lock is PERFECT for what I want on a backdoor emergency entrance door. It's only one lock, it fits in the hole in my new door (although my son will need to use a drill and make a 3/8" hole above the existing one and below it looks like, but he likes to use the drill). I'm looking forward to the back door always being locked from the outside, but always being openable from the inside in case of an emergency.OK, update, it's great, just push the nob in to lock it, and to keep it locked even after opening, just turn the nob when it's pushed in. It stays pushed in and everyone can still get outside if they wanted to. It's also a solid feeling. Definitely more heavy-duty than what I usually see in home depot. I'm very happy with my research.

Very nice product
Conclusions: 1. Feels and looks solid, robust and not cheap. 2. Dad likes pressing the button to lock the door and then just closing it behind him when he goes out. Coming back, he said he doesn't mind the slight key rotation to "pop" it unlocked and then just pushes the handle down to enter. 3. He likes that opening the locked door to get deliveries is the same as if the door wasn't locked. Then he just shuts it and presses the button to lock it again. 4. There's a feature when you push the locking button that you can twist it and the lock stays locked from the outside but unlocked from the inside, forever until you untwist it. He said that he doesn't like that function because he doesn't want to accidentally be locked out if the lock is always locked and he doesn't have his keys. So he doesn't twist it, just uses it as a button. I'm making an extra copy of the key to hide somewhere outside the house. He has a hiding spot from the old lock so it's not a big deal. Hope this is helpful. I found this lock to be a decent solution to our moderate dexterity problem.

Easy install
Took off old lock and installed new in less than 15 minutes. Too early to see how durable it is but so far I’m very satisfied.

C3FE -good choice for my shop's bathroom
This was a good choice for my shop's bathroom. I saw there were other cheaper indicator locks on Amazon, but I wanted one with a key and this was the only one I found like this. It's really sturdy feeling compared to the door knob lock it replaced. I might recommend it to the coffee shop next door if it goes well. I'm not too worried though. I saw they have a website and they have a worry free 6 month warranty and the very nice chat operator there (Ana) told me they work with customers even if it's after 6 months to make sure buyers are completely satisfied, like they replace faulty locks within days of contacting them, have large discounts and offer personalized advice of the kind of lock that's best for customer's unique situation. It was very nice talking to her. Also, it showed when others were buying and what locks they were buying there and it looks like they're not doing bad. The site looks good. I'll update this if anything changes.

Good Lock, Poor Instructions
Instruction Problem: The instructions packaged with mine called for removing the cover of the inside part of the lock, installing the two machine screws, and replacing the cover; but there is not enough clearance between the screw heads and the cover to do that. The instruction video calls for simply inserting the screws through the holes in the cover. The cover will distort slightly before the machine screws are fully torqued. If you do not fully torque the screws, they will quickly work loose with use. There is an instruction video on the Vizilock dot com website called installation-video-c3f.The Lock Quality:The inside cover distorts slightly before the machine screws are fully torqued, but they must be fully torqued or they will loosen with use.It is possible to turn the lock to the LOCKED position and shut the door leaving the room vacant with the door locked -- not a desirable performance for a public facility. The lock can be unlocked using a medium sized wedge tip screwdriver in the slot in the handle -- a good feature in case a kid locks himself in the bathroom -- you do not have to search for a key. The listing says you can use a dime, but I think that would be difficult. If the installation has room to insert a credit card to force the latch, that would work too (there is no keeper on the latch to prevent forcing it with a credit card. The lock feels very sturdy and is easy to use.
