Squeaky clean hair
First, I don't know if I have ever used a clarifying shampoo before this! Recently started learning more about how to really care for my hair and scalp, rather than just shampoo and conditioner every other day or so.We have hard water, and I do notice that my roots start feeling gross, limp, and flat after a while. I don’t have a filter on my shower because it wouldn't work with our shower head setup. This shampoo solved my problems! I rarely (like once a year) use products like hairspray, gel, etc that cause buildup, only leave-in conditioner more regularly. How I use it:I have used this twice so far, about 3 weeks apart. I will probably continue about every 3 or 4 weeks. The first time I used it I shampooed twice with this (as instructions suggest), but that was too strong for me! Next time I used my regular shampoo (a SheaMoisture product), rinsed, and then this shampoo and rinsed. I will continue with that routine. Then I use a deep conditioner (SheaMoisture Intensive Hydration Hair Masque) while I wash rest of my body.I bought this product after reading lists of recommended clarifying shampoos, and it wasn't one of the more expensive options 😅 Good price and should last a long time as it is only used about once a month!

My new favorite!
This was recommended to me after my hair was feeling a hot mess. My curls weren’t holding, hair just felt dry & felt heavy and weighed down. I was skeptical about buying this off Amazon being afraid it would be a fake. But I am in love with it. I used a good amount and just scrubbed my scalp & hair really good with it. It is quite drying so I followed up with the Eva NYC hair mask and left that on for a couple hours. After I rinsed that out I put a little It’s a 10 in my hair followed by a tiny amount of Moroccan oil on the ends. My hair dried faster than it usually does with the hair dryer & literally felt like I had just left the salon. It was so soft, felt light and airy, my scalp felt like it didn’t have all the build up on it and it had its shine back. My color was more vibrant & not so dull and dry looking. If you’re looking for a good clarifier this is it!! I was going to go with the Malibu C but decided to go with this being as it was cheaper & I don’t regret it. You won’t either!

This really works!
I have been battling the effects of hard water in my highlighted hair for more than 30 years. I have tried countless clarifying shampoos, filtered water, lemon water, etc. and nothing has ever helped. When I bought this product, I was afraid it would be another fail, but it was not. It actually worked!!! After just one wash my hair feels so much better and my highlights are back. I just can't believe it. The texture of my hair had gotten an almost straw-like feel over the years. I wondered if it was just part of aging. However, now, after using this product only once, my former soft texture is back. I am amazed. I almost never write reviews, but am so impressed I had to share. No, I did not get the product for free or get paid for this review. I'm so glad I tried it!

Not as Good as Kristen Ess
Although this has harsh sulfates just like Kristen Ess' Clarifying Shampoo, I still find Kristen's to be better. They both leave my hair feeling soft (when used correctly) but the scent is not as pleasant and the end results are not as soft as Kristen's. It's a good product if you cannot find Kristen's clarifying shampoo, or if this works better on your scalp. You won't ever know until you try it because everyone's hair is different. Here's how I use any clarifying shampoo for the best results:1. Apply a blend of pumpkin seed oil, castor oil, rosemary oil, and more to my scalp and massage it in. Massaging your scalp promotes hair growth and pumpkin seed oil and rosemary oil have been proven by many to help hair grow faster and fuller.2. Apply a VERY moisturizing hair mask to mids and ends. (The clarifying shampoo that you will later use is going to strip your hair of everything it's got, that's what it's supposed to do. It's like hitting the reset button or stripping a canvas of its paint. This is great for your scalp because it's meant to get rid of product build-up, dirt, and harsh chemicals in city/treated water, like fluoride, but not great if you don't properly moisturize your hair, as it will leave it feeling dry and brittle. Always apply a mask to prevent that dry, brittle feeling.) Make sure the mask has the proper ingredients. The top of the ingredients list are what makes up most of the product; usually it's the first 6 or so ingredients that you have to really worry about because that's most of the product. You don't want fragrance at the top of the ingredient list because it leaves your hair feeling super dry and damaged. This goes with any product, including skincare. "Fragrance" can mean 600 ingredients and they get away with it legally because TECHNICALLY they are telling you about it, but they don't have to list all of them individually. So just be on the look-out for that.3. Leave the oils and mask on for at least an hour, ideally more. I leave mine on all day for hours and hours. The longer I leave them to marinate, the more soft my hair will feel at the end.4. Wash with the clarifying shampoo TWICE. Always wash twice, and make sure to get the whole scalp. This helps me because my hair gets oily and dry flakes easily, and washing twice in a row allows me to go longer without washing.5. Don't use conditioner, use another hair mask. It's more moisturizing than conditioner. Leave it in while you shower, ideally 10-20 minutes. Rinse and you're good to go.6. Wait for your hair to be at least 50% dry before applying products. When your hair is too wet, it doesn't properly absorb the oils and leave-ins you apply, rather they sit on the hair. It makes my hair feel gross when I apply the products too soon, but you're definitely gonna need them after clarifying.7. Only clarify once a week or every two weeks, depending on if you use well water or treated/city water, if your scalp gets oily, dry flakes, or dandruff. When your hair is feeling dry, brittle, lifeless, etc., then clarify. Remember this is a harsh product, meant to be SUPER cleaning. Do not use it for every wash.Hope this helped.
