Not as engaging as story of the world but still good
We loved "The story of the world" and I thought this would be similarly enjoyable. I will say it is much less engaging for my children ages 9, 7, 6, and 4 than TSOTW. However the 9 and 7 year old still like it and are learning from it and ask to listen to it. I love that it has a Christian foundation throughout. I would purchase more from this series. We like to listen during long car trips.

Great History Book
The history dates are from the beginning including biblical references. Great format & easy to work with my dyslexic kid or even younger children. The book offers audible as an extra option. The answer key is in the back & All text questions are T/F or multiple choice. Starting Book 2 next semester.

Interesting points of view
Written for children but still good. There were few things I disagreed with and more I found myself enlightened. Happily.

Must have!
This is a fantastic set. My kids ages 3-13 are loving it. We have it playing in the car. Voice is really nice to listen too and the stories are relevant and easy to follow. Great for homeschooling history or just for fun listening in the car!

Great history CD. Educational, well done and entertaining.
Great history CD. Very well done, educational and entertaining. We listened in the car on a long trip for the kids. My husband loved it so much, he kept wanting to put it on. I would definitely recommend. I liked it so much that I bought the next set of CDs covering the Medieval World.

Fun Way to Learn History
We just love Mr. Campbell. He always makes history exciting and funny. That allows for much better retention for my children. This is an excellent book.

Good
I ended up really liking this book- the first few chapters didnt impress me, but gradually I got pulled into it as a story line developed... and i guess thats the thing I like best about it, it has a thread running through it that connects all the stories, humankind's thirst for God. Unlike Story of the World, which a wonderful collection of largely independent stories, the Story of Civilization is one story with many chapters.I prefer a pretty writing style, maybe more old fashioned, but the writing is clear and steady. I was sorry there weren't more women, but to be honest that isnt a criticism just of this book, and he did try, I appreciated that. Any history spine needs to be fleshed out with other reading and I didnt expect this one to be everything!Overall I'm very happy and will buy the others, too.
