A great little gem!
This book is everything I had hoped for and more! It is jampacked with art and is exactly what I had been searching for. I'd been wanting a book with vintage character advertisement art to use as reference for an art project and this is so full of goodies! It is quite a thick little book and a wonderful addition to my library. Also a great glimpse into the history of some well-known companies and the mascots they created. Before the Quik bunny, there was a little man named Mr. Pick Quik. Hi-C had a giraffe character named Hi-Cecil. Burger King's original King was a fat, jolly cartoon. I bought both this volume and volume 2 together. You won't regret this purchase!

Fun book
This book was a gift for my husband. He loved it. The only issue was that the book came a little dirty, it had smears of dirt in a few places on the front and back covers.

Great Image Reference Book
I'm a graphic designer, and I love this kind of retro, pop culture and Americana. I bought Meet Mr Product to use it as an image reference for my work. The book has a broad range of immaculate examples of old-school brand/product logos and mascots. It's been thoughtfully put together in useful categories (Food, Drinks, Kid's Stuff, Dining, Technology, Automotive, Home, and Personal & Leisure).MMP is 272 pages of colourful nostalgia. Unlike similar reference books I've purchased, this one doesn't pad out the total number of pages with loads of empty space, blank pages, or superfluous text that most people are never going to read. Aside from the 30-something pages of text (general intro, chapter intros, acknowledgements, and "about the authors"), it's purely illustrative, and choc-a-block full of visual inspiration. The image quality is excellent. I don't know where they sourced their images from, or what their process was to clean them up, but one can assume with the vintage they were dealing with, some of the original material must have been a bit worse for wear. You wouldn't know it though. Some of the artwork could have been created yesterday—it's just vibrant and fun.One thing I was surprised by was the book's dimensions. Perhaps I should have checked them out beforehand, but it just looked like it was going to be larger than it is. A large format is not exactly essential (and it hasn't lost points for this) but this type of highly visual publication would definitely benefit from being twice as wide and twice as tall. Obviously, this would come with a larger price tag, but it's probably one I'd be willing to pay, given the quality of content, and the ease of use. Keeping such a small, thick book open on a desk, while you're sketching ain't easy. And I'd really like to be able to see some of the finer details of the artwork without having to stick my nose between the pages. The reason the book lost one star was purely because of there was visible oil-like staining along both sides of the spine (see images). The box it arrived in was un-damaged/-stained, so it was obviously sent like this. From what I can tell, it's a manufacturing defect, and I suspect it's staining from the glue that was used during the binding process. It's not the end of the world, and the content inside is unaffected. However, it does look a bit gross, and doesn't make me want to have it on display. The only reason I didn't send it back for a replacement was because I bought the last one.Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in retro pop culture and advertising ephemera. I know I'll get plenty of use out of this book for years to come!
