Bought this speaker as a gift for my brother’s 30th birthday and it was a hit. The sound quality is great, and it comes with a carrying bag which he really likes..makes it easy to take anywhere. It was also super easy to connect and holds a charge really well, which is a huge plus. Overall, a solid purchase and a great gift option.

There are so many great things about this speaker such as, the sound quality, compact size, and durability. This speaker has overall good sound quality, and can get really loud despite its small size. Its compact size makes it perfect for outdoor activities that need some music to entertain or relax with. This speaker is extremely durable and it can survive some fairly tough falls. Overall, I’d say that it is definitely worth the price!

Impressive sound for under $100. - Sturdy, rugged design that can take some drops and dings. Perfect for travel and outdoor use. - Good battery life. Got about 8-10 hours of playtime on a single charge. - Easy to connect and pair with devices via Bluetooth. Multiple JBL speakers can be linked up. - Intuitive physical controls for power, volume, etc. - Super portable and compact. Can go anywhere! Cons: - Sound lacks some detail and nuance, especially in the highs. Can get slightly distorted at max volume. - Bass tone is a bit muddy and exaggerated. Not the most accurate. - Performs best when placed near a wall/corner. Sound is not as full in open space. - Mid-range frequencies are emphasized over lows and highs. Not the most balanced EQ. Overall, the JBL Flip 5 punches above its weight given its affordable price point. While audiophiles may notice some limitations, it delivers very solid sound quality for everyday listening. Wow. I've had this for over five years and I gotta say it's incredible. The sound quality is amazing and it's a rugged little beast. The battery life is definitely over 5 hours - I think JBL quotes something like 7 which is probably accurate. When I bought mine, I was able to get a little rubber casing for it that included a heavy duty (non-climbing) caribiner. I don't think that accessory is available any more, which is a crying shame. Anyhow, this little speaker has been in good use for 1-5 hour sessions at least once per week for five years and it's still going strong. If I had to issue a qualm, I'd say that the battery meter isn't all that. When it's charging, it's hard to know how much it has and then when I'm playing it, there doesn't seem to be a way to check the battery. This can result in unexpected shutdown. You can also read this as "the battery lasts so bloody long it's easy to forget to charge it." Anyhow, if you need a portable, awesome-sounding bluetooth speaker, this one will do you right every time.
