Brillant writing!
The public needs more authors with stories like this! I found this author through her writing with Auryn and their co-written books and series. After reading all of her books I jumped to he co-author Kitty, and was very impressed. Characters are believable and sexy fun. The stories are realistic and have real world issues without losing the romance. One thing that I really admire is both authors portray real social issues without preaching or dumbing the issues down. This one dealt with domestic violence so might be triggering for some people but for others it could be an inspiration..so nice to see sexy and smart women and men with real world flaws and scars. Keep it up Kitty!

Filled with all of the emotions
If you, like me, are the type of person who tortured yourself looking at available pets to adopt on petfinder before remembering that your old and cranky cat is very much old, cranky, and doesn’t play well with others, you, too, may find the beginning of this book very difficult to read. It's very good and worth it—but it was not easy. Why? The beginning of this book introduces us to our protagonist Brook, a thirty-something year old woman who volunteers at an animal shelter. Which is all well and good but also realistic—not all of the animals in the shelter have had happy lives and you will find yourself wishing you could reach through the pages to rescue these animals. So that’s an exercise in futility and some tears. But that’s not the full story (because that would quite frankly be a book I wouldn’t finish). Instead it’s the backdrop for Brook meeting Ryder, an attractive and somewhat mysterious man who is fulfilling his community service hours at the animal shelter. Again all well and good, except Brook is married to Owen. Who is a dick.Owen being a dick means that Brook has to leave and Ryder, along with his twin brother Hunter and Brook’s college friend Alison, come to the rescue and get Brook out of a bad situation... and into a romance with the two brothers. The emotion of this book just drips from the page and fills up the room. From Brook’s work at the animal shelter to her encounters with Owen, her reconnecting with Alison and the development of her relationships with Ryder and Hunter, the setting, the dialogue, and the experience are all right there on the page to ensnare the reader. While this is the first in a duo, it’s a complete story that’s well-told from start to finish.

Stunning read.
There is so much I could say about this book. So many spoilers I could give, but I think that would be doing you a disservice. This is a book that you need to experience for yourself. Its so beautifully written, so well thought out and executed. There are triggering things in it, domestic violence and animal abuse, but they are handled carefully and skillfully. As its happening, you know its going to be bad, but they are not spelled out in excruciating detail. You still feel the impact of them, feel the horror, the devastation and the rage, but its not in your face. Just be warned that they are there, and honestly necessary for the development of the character and the story. My emotions were everywhere with this book. It had me laughing, crying, angry crying, scared, heartbroken, hot and bothered and a few other emotions, lol. I connected with the characters on a level I didn't anticipate. It gave me food for thought on some things in my own life, and its found a place in my heart more for it.I will say this; I loved the characters, they really shine. Brook's spirit and strength, Ali and Leah's love, support and tenacity and Ryder and Hunters... everything! I even liked Marcy, though at the beginning I was thinking I'd hate her. They are all flawed, amazing and have this wonderful depth to them that for me, brings them to life.So good! So amazingly good! I can't wait to read the second book! So thank you Kitty Cox, for the experience, and thank you for writing such a brilliant story. I know it will resonate with more than just total book nerds/animal lovers like myself. This is a fantastic book.

Interesting take on relationships
Very well written, interesting storyline. I read ALOT of romance-all different kinds. I wouldn't call this erotica, but more of a modern contemporary romance. It wasn't about the physical act, but more about figuring yourself out and finding what works for you. The sex scenes were at a minimum (still steamy) but the way the relationships were built was thorough and you could see the development in the characters. I am a believer that everyone deserves their own kind of happiness and society shouldn't define it. The author took her time with the storyline and didn't rush the ending, which I find, many tend to do.My only negatives are that there is a lot of inner dialogue, but-thankfully-it wasn't this angsty back and forth, indecisiveness within the characters that drives me nuts. The sex scenes did seem a little rushed. I also was upset but the incident with the dog, but understood why it was a necessary element in the book.I acquired this read through Kindle Unlimited, and it definitely was one of better quality books I've read in KU.

Perfect
I started reading the gamer girls series and now that I'm waiting for the next book I decided to check out what other books were written by these girls. I found this one and I have to say, its amazing. When the story hits on the abuse I love that it wasn't just physical and brought light to how much verbal and mental abuse can cause just as much damage. Ive been exactly where the main character was in my previous marriage 6 years before I realized what I was dealing with was abuse not just normal. How she felt and thought was right on. Trying to reinvent herself after feeling lost, also right on. Id have to say this is probably one of the most accurate books Ive read that werent about the topic or self help types. I love that it made me feel normal in my broken. I also love the characters.

5 star recommandation for: When it Rains
First solo book from Kitty Cox and where do I begin to descripe this Book. I already knew Kitty Cox as a talenten writer from here collaboration with Auryn Hadley, on the Gamer Girls series. Also a serie that does not shy the more difficult topics which humans encounter on there lives yourney. So when it Rains not gonna give anything away, but what I can say is that the book is full of plot twists, a heroine one can relate to, not for the faint harted and more so much more. Can’t wait for the second book in this serie to arrive titled “ it Pours”

Absolutely blew me away - brilliant!
What an outstanding debut novel! I am blown away! And holy twins - talk about hot!Let's start with the 'boring' stuff - the worldbuilding and scene setting was really well done. I loved that the guys were authors and that their story showcased how a writing partnership worked - at least how they made it work. Now the characters - in all honesty, our 3 MCs are what made the entire story work. They were beautifully flawed and well created. The depth of their development was well written, and their backgrounds slowly revealed. We start with Brook, and the situation she's in with her husband turning from controlling to physically abusive. The situation showed research and control from the author, and I couldn't help but empathise with Brook and hope that I never find myself in her situation. It showcased how slowly it can evolve, and why women find themselves trapped and in a situation they now realise is bad but no idea how to get themselves out of it. Thankfully, through what could be considered pure luck, Brook finds herself with options at the last minute and is able to flee. Her story is heartbreaking and relevant, and how she struggles to move forward and find herself, poignant.Queue Ryder and Hunter. The twins who are kind hearted, generous but oh so broken and damaged by their past. If you thought Brook's situation was bad, then the twin's past will break your heart further. That they managed to survive and pull themselves out of those situations is testament to their strength and the bond they have. Most authors who write twins write them with a special bond - Kitty takes this further and has them completely dependent on each other for various reasons. They can't survive without each other, and don't want to try. This has affected their luck with girlfriends as the women they meet never understand that bond, and that their brother will always come first. Until Brook that is!I loved this story - I don't think I can state that enough! I was hooked from page 1 and couldn't put it down. The book flowed so well I didn't realise the hours were slipping by. It is a really good length as well, so a lot happens but the depth and connection is there - nothing is rushed.I can honestly say this is one of my fave romance reads for 2018 and I can't wait to see what this new author does next. Whether in this series or any other, I will 'one click' anything she releases - she is one to keep an eye on, and an author I would highly recommend.

Beautifully written
As someone who spent way too long in a controlling relationship just like the one at the beginning of this book, I was really touched by the way the topic was handled.Brook is a very likeable, relatable character with a great mix of strength and vulnerability. And the guys were just amazing. I totally cried for them, swooned and laughed out loud in places. The best part for me though was the terrifyingly real portrayal of the lack of support domestic violence victims get from the authorities. The lack of punishment for Owen is, unfortunately, all too real in today’s society.I just loved this book and will definitely read it again.
