Great protection for my stuff
I could not be happier. I found this to be incredibly useful and easy to use. I use it to hold my range targets so they don't get smashed in the trunk of my car. It works great! The tube can easily be adjusted for different media sizes and the cap has a twist-lock to keep it shut and your stuff inside. The shoulder strap is handy as well. You absolutely can't beat this!

It is a poster tube - however it's thin plastic and it does not lock well at specific heights despite the notch marks for it to lock in. Generally I wouldn't care, it's good enough, except I bought this specifically because it claimed to fit 42"posters - the exact length I need.In reality it's poor for this length. less than 36" or so and it's a fine product, but for 42 Inches the tube I received is poor for the following reasons:1) The lock mechanism on the extending part doesn't work. The outer plastic is too flexible, it doesn't hold.2) The inner tube is not long enough. The 42" lock mark is at the very very bottom of the inner tube, giving only half an inch of less overlap between the inner and outer tube, and that overlap is the notch. This is unstable. Given the lock mechanism doesn't really hold it keeps popping out, exposing the center of the poster inside.3) the nylon shoulder strap is too short. It's ends are riveted around the red rings, but have been riveted in such a way that at its maximum extension it just fits 42 inches. This is a problem as the top is about 4 inches deep so you can't place it cleanly over the poster without bending the poster in the tube. Strap needs to be long enough to be full length of the tube, plus extra to place lid on without touching the poster. My fix was to use two 4 inch plumbing repair clamps to reinforce the mid-section of both the outer and inner pipes. This gives it much more stability. Duct tape around the center stops it breaking apart (and protects the center of the poster from rain), and the strap is removed to allow it to close without squishing the poster. So in conclusion - if the posters you want to use this for are 36" or less - sure - it does the job. If you need a poster tube for 42inches, keep looking.

Great for storing a rolled flag.
I use this product to store a flag. I roll the 3x5 foot American flag and it fits perfectly.

Super usefull tube!
This really came in handy for all my airsoft cleaning rods. Since I became a collector over the last few years, I needed a place to store all the various sizes of cleaning rods that accumulated around my workshop. Turns out that the tube was the answer.

One and done
I'll echo Dan.Strakis.14's sentiments. How on earth did this thing get such great reviews? I realize it's cheap, but I'm pretty sure I could 3d print and assemble a better product for the same cost. A Ziploc or off brand food storage container has more tensile strength than this tube. Good luck storing the tube in the overhead bin of a airplane. Even a suit jacket will put too much weight on the surface. The twist to lock/unlock works about as well as trying to nail Jell-O to the wall. Just carrying the tube through a crowded airport is likely to leave you scrambling to replace the cap or keep the two halves of the tube together because it came untwisted. Then there's the laughable excuse for a strap. I particularly enjoyed having the tube drop to the ground and go rolling when the strap came completely undone, separating from the tube. Quality construction, it is not.Save your money, buy a different tube.

Holds large academic posters perfectly and stood up well to air travel, and since it's pretty nondescript, the flight attendants didn't consider it an extra carry on. Took away a star because when fully extended, the strap is a little short to fit over a shoulder or cross body. I fixed that problem by unscrewing the strap holder and replacing the straps with ones I had lying around that were a little longer. All in all, a great purchase, and a couple of people at the AERA conference asked where I'd gotten it.

I don't understand how this tube got such great reviews (there were only 5-star reviews when I made my decision to purchase it). I won't say that it's worthless, but it's pretty close to being worthless. The plastic was fairly flimsy, and the two locking mechanisms may as well not be there at all. If I even set my poster down and rested it against my leg, the telescoping lock fell out and sent the top sliding down into my poster (luckily the plastic is so cheap and light it didn't cause very much damage). If it goes past horizontal, the top came unlocked and out came my poster. The strap is also quite short, and if you use the telescoping feature (a large reason I bought it), you can't actually use it as a strap. If I need to use this tube again before I buy a durable one, I will heavily reinforce with duct tape. Hell, maybe a tube made entirely of duct tape would be better.
