Serenity Prayers: Prayers, Poems, and Prose to Soothe Your Soul

I purchased this book in January to read to my 86 year-old mother suffering from dementia. Mom was always a spiritual woman so I looked for a book that would nourish her spiritual side and possibly rekindle some of those feelings in her. And that is exactly what Comfort Prayers did. I would read several passages and when I stopped she'd smile and say, "Oh, that was nice." I'd ask if she wanted me to read more and sometimes she'd just look at me - like she wanted to savor the last words I'd read - and simply say "Not right now".Mom passed away the first day of spring this year. I am content in knowing that I gave her a little bit of heaven every time I read to her from Comfort Prayers: Prayers and Poems to Comfort, Encourage, and Inspire. Many thanks to June Cotner for providing my mom such a wonderful gift and providing me with a way to give back to her!

I keep several copies of this book on hand to give or send to friends who need comfort or have undergone some sort of big stress...surgery, loss of a loved one, illness, and the like. It's not a book to read from page 1 to the end, but a reader would pick it up and read a few pages now and then and know that a friend was thinking of them. June Cotner has a number of lovely books that make great gifts--poems for newlyweds, new babies, pets, grace and other prayers, new home, get well.

Prayers to make you grounded and calm

In comparison with the wonderful "Comfort Prayers" this collection is disappointing. I was buying Comfort Prayers, yet again, for another friend in need, saw this new one and bought it for myself. Where I have 20+ pages turned down in Comfort Prayers to go back and read again and again, I did not find a single Serenity Prayer moving enough to read again. This new one lacks depth to me and I won't pass it on to anyone.

It was a pleasure to be included in this edition of June Cotner's work. She carefully selected each passage to soothe and guide the soul.

This is a balm for the soul. Relax and enjoy these poems and prayers.

Not what I expected at all. Quite disappointed in this purchase. I don't know what else to say about it really, others may like it.

Comforting words during a very difficult time in my life. Reading each page did "soothe my soul" . I have since given to friends as a gift.
