Hypersorb better than purigen! Removes odor completely!
I've been using purigen the past year, and is wasn't keeping my aquarium clean as far as smell, etc. fish aquariums smell even if you maintain them regularly, your human company that comes over will tell you that even if you become acclimated to the smell. I hate that fishy sometimes foul aquarium smell, purigen only works as water clarifying product. So I did research and tried hypersorb. This product is amazing, not only does it clarify your water to chrystal clear basis, it removes the funky fish tank odor completely. Now I have sand substrate, which comes with its own issues with cleaning, and even with me doing 25% water changes bi-weekly, fishy odor is still a problem. I think hypersorb is highly underused and underrated since it acts as a type of super duper cleaning carbon removing fish odor, organic and inorganic impurities and clarifies the water even better than purigen. Purigen only removes impurities particles that cloud water, not everything. Remember, aquariums are recreating outside lakes, rivers, etc and we have organic and inorganic wastes in our aquariums, purigen does not remove both, only one. Hypersorb seems to remove both, so I'm cleaning my purigens to pack it up and I'll be using hypersorb exclusively from now on. And I'm buying more hypersorb, it is also recharged just like purigen, but it's better in my opinion, unless you don't mind a funky fish tank😉

Works great
Works great not sure if as good as purigen hard to say but it removes junk from water . With EVERY media I use I put it in container of water for couple days before using it as do not risk change in ph and after 2 days rinse it out put in filter and works great .

Great product I love it
Great product I love it!! I've read that some don't know the difference between this product & Purigen. This product is to remove odder, organic waste, toxic vapors, & other pollutants from the water. Purigen is NOT a adsorbent product. Purigen removes soluble & insoluble impurities from the water making it crystal clear. I am now using this product & Purigen in my filter pads & my filter box has NO gross fish/aquarium scent anymore & the water is crystal clear. These products are used in 4 aquariums & my goal was to clear up confusion about the difference between the two products. I recommend Seachem products & I use all their freshwater products to maintain my 4 tanks.

Great
Mix this with purigen and you have a great chemical filtration setup. It's a nice alternative to carbon. It is naturally darker than purigen so don't be confused by that.

This Purigen Predecessor is still relevant with seemingly quicker results.
I mistakenly purchased HyperSorb before I thoroughly researched it's comparison to Seachem Purigen. Well, I was not disappointed with the end results. Honestly, I don't detect any difference between the two. Of course, Seachem will have us believe that Purigen is much more efficient at doing the exact same thing; thus prompting consumers to purchase it instead of HyperSorb. I don't have a problem with that. I've used the 100ml pouch on 3 different aquariums: 29L, 20XH and 55 gallon. Within 2-3 days each aquarium became so pristine and lucid that I became tempted to drink the water (NO, I never did or will). Also, maybe it's me; but compared to Purigen, HyperSorb is a little faster at improving water clarity and seems to last longer before needing regeneration. The cost is not that much different, so in the end it's your choice between the two. Personally, I'll continue to purchase Purigen unless Hypersorb is discontinued and the price significantly falls.

After using Seachem's Purigen for several months I decided to switch the activated carbon I was using with the Hyper-Sorb in my Nano Reef Tank. It produces crystal clear water and I love how it can be re-charged. It would fit great in any sort of filter and fits my DIY filter rack perfectly. The price is also good so once it can't be recharged again, I will not hesitate to buy a new one.

I feel Purigen is better than this. Both cost almost the same, but Purigen is able to clean more effectively.
