I had owned about 8 pairs when they discontinued them. They went on clearance and I bought about 10 more pairs over the next couple years until I couldn't find any more. Once my last pair disintegrated on my feet, I quit my job and broke up with my girlfriend. I became a shut-in, subsisting off pizza and Dr. Pepper. This went on for years; I was disgusting! Then one day, I kicked a 2 liter of DP on my way to the bathroom and it caused me to look down at my feet, they looked sad and pathetic without my beloved Chet IVs. I thought, what have I got to live for anyway!?! I went straight to my old desktop computer. I sat down at the desk and urinated myself, then I pulled up amazon to order some rope and a book on knot-tying. But then, the strangest thing happened, under the "suggested items" right on the front page, there was a picture of my shoes! Brand new Globe Chet IVs! I thought it must be too good to be true, but my size was listed available! I ordered 14 pairs with next day delivery and I have a new lease on life! Praise Chet Thomas! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks for these Globe but...wait... *by D***. on Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2019* Okay first of all I have to say I'm 27 and I originally had a pair of these when I was like 12 and they had been out for a couple years. But they were still selling strong and I remember realizing why. I skated, ran around, jumped out of trees, jumped down stairs on my board and did all sorts of things for an entire year and the shoes remained virtually the same, especially considering I couldn't do flip tricks yet. One day my mom threw them away and I absolutely flipped out and she just kept going back to how "no they were done." I distinctly remember going a year with them and thinking "wow these don't even smell" and I was satisfied I never once had to question the integrity of those things.Today, the modern version is close but no cigar. They are basically the same in appearance on your foot, which is good if you want to just rock them. But they aren't that insane quality. They are triple stitched and have all that paneling and all that but they don't have like that memory foam insole and just supreme ankle comfort. However the toes and forefoot feel awesome. Unfortunately mine were the "Battleship" color and are made out of nubuck and leather which both broke in to show a ton of wrinkling. I kneeled on cement once and the toe box on one shoe totally tore up. Now they look totally blemished but they don't seem like they will skate the same. They are several months broken in but they just don't remind me of the old ones. Would I buy another pair, YES. Just needs a little more padding where ankle meets forefoot like another person said. ### ⭐ Globe's been going downhill for a while now.. *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2017* This is the third pair of Globes I've had that have started like, disintegrating after 3 or less months. I've bought these style of shoes from Globe habitually since I was like 15, so for like 18 years I've been buying these shoes. What can I say, I love the comfort of the unisock, they're comfortable cool looking shoes. I've had them usually last somewhere around the neighborhood of a year, but in the last 2 years I've had these things just fall apart internally or externally from normal use. I'd get it if I still skated, but I have been wearing these in alternation with another pair of Globes (that are also doing the same thing) for just a few days over 2 months- and the sole is starting to crack/come apart on the outside. Another thing that bothered me from the moment I unboxed them, the white accents seem to have the blue bleeding through. Like I said, if I was skating these things and ripping them up, I'd get it, but I'm in my 30's and work in IT now, it's not like I'm subjecting these things to even close to what they're 'supposed to' be able to handle.
