This cable brought a mid-2011 iMac into the present--I bought an "internal" 1 TB Samsung EVO 860 SSD, hooked it up to this quality cable, which used a USB port and ESATA port on my iMac and instantly I had an external SSD running fast and silent--with the option to easily swap others in/out like they were pluggable thumb drives--though I always power down first just to be extra careful. And no heat build-up with it not being in a case--the SSD is itself its own enclosure in this setup. Very cool--in both senses of the word!

I had two older USB-SATA adapters that did not recognize my new Crucial SSD. I tried this eSATA-SATA adapter (with USB power) and the new SSD drive was recognized instantly and cloned. Perfect solution. Well made and very functional.

Didn't work at all. Honestly it's cheap and seemed high quality but apparently it's what's on the inside that counts. Although if feels and looks nice this product never worked for me. I've tried on 3 different computers and still no luck. It was only like $5 so it's not even worth chatting support, printing labels and driving to get it sent back. All and all there are a lot of other cheap ones that will probably work with faster transfer rates too. Don't waste your time and money.

I've always thought the idea of an eSATA cable was a useless idea that no one would ever use. Building a very unique project, and as it turns out, this cable just saved this project! Thank you for making this!!!

I bought this to use my old DVD drive externally. Well it powers up, but it doesn't show up in Windows 10. The USB doesn't have enough power to juice my drive, even if you use USB 3.Bummer. I thought I could pull a fast one here, but it looks like SATA power extensions is the only way for my application.

My old T410 has an (external) eSATA port - (not the powered/USB version) -this cable adapter let me connect a new SATA SSD, using Linux, etc, etc.Then swapped the new into the laptop and use the old drive as an external...

Plugged in my SSD and plugged in USB for Power and ESAT for data and the popped up in windows a couple seconds later. Easy Peasy. Fast and East (data transfer).

I tried two of these cables from two different sellers. Obviously they're the same cable. The rubber on one immediately cracked at the eSATA connection, and the cable never worked. The other works but be advised this is not a power esata (eSATAp) cable. The usb does not work to connect my SSD to my computer, I had to get another usb to 2.5" SATA cable for that. And for my application (attaching to a high speed camera) the device would not recognize the SSD until I plugged the usb into an external battery pack with the eSATA simultaneously plugged into the camera. This finally worked, although I have to push the power check button on the battery anytime I want to upload video to the SSD. If my device could not power the SSD this might be the way to go, but for my application I will order an eSATAp cable.
