Helpful seller
The seller was very helpful with a lost package. I recommend highly. The book is exactly as expected.

Geared toward UK sheep
Great book buy it's better suited for people raising sheep in the UK. This book talks about different UK regulations and whatnot for sheep, nothing about USA sheepies.

Excellent Reference
I've been raising sheep for years but this book is still a good basic reference. It's well written with lots of pictures. Very UK focused but still quite useful for US readers, especially those with rare breeds. It has become the book I recommend to new shepherds but even old hands will find it useful.

Not for vegan sheep lovers!
I love sheep AS PETS, and was looking for something to use as a manual. However, from the Julia Bradbury introduction onwards, I found this book unpleasant as it relates to sheep in the terms of ultimately sending them to slaughter. There are several pages on the butchering process, best meat flavours etc and I find that deeply unsettling and offensive.Overly sensitive? Yes I am, but I want a book about the animal, not about a farming process which is cruel and unethical.

Useless for learning about sheep keeping
This is basically useless for learning about sheep keeping. I’m a total novice and got this as a starter but any useful info is on the rural payments agency website. It doesn’t even have much in different breeds. It’s main advice is to pay someone else to look after your sheep. I’ve learned a lot from government website and NADIS and local farmers and YouTube. I have now got sheep and have had them for half a year, injected them, drenched them, all fit and healthy. No thanks for this book. This is a total waste of money if you actually want to learn about sheep keeping.

Absolutely NECESSARY for all sheep keepers!
This is a great book! I'm a complete novice and found this incredibly useful and have referred back to it often. Also its worth it for the hilarious factor of whipping out a Haynes manual :-)

a fountain of knowledge
I love this book. I was very involved with sheep farming as a child and since lost touch with it. As I am intending to soon have some of my own it has all the info I was wanting as a refresher. A good read.

Like all the recent crop of Haynes manuals covering animal ...
Like all the recent crop of Haynes manuals covering animal husbandry and small holding this is an excellent introduction to the subject. There is enough information to make informed decisions about keeping sheep without scaring yourself and I think enough to get you through the first few months of owning sheep. It is refreshingly clear about not being a complete guide and highlights where you would need to do further reading which avoids the book becoming bogged down in detail before you need it. A very good read and written in an easy to read flowing style.
