Great book, poor translation to Kindle
I read these books many years ago and wanted to re-read them.I've read the first two and am now about 3/4 the way through the third (this one - "With A Tangled Skein").I'm enjoying the books as much as I did many years ago, BUT - This one seems to have a large number of typo's. Multiple typo's per chapter. I have the original paperback (yes, I bought a kindle version even though I have it in paperback - I just prefer reading things on Kindle!) so I've checked and the problem is NOT in the original book.I find it odd since "On a Pale Horse" and "Bearing an Hourglass" did not have this problem. I'm guessing it is a poor scan from book to Kindle and Amazon never had anyone proof-read the scanned copy before making it available for sale.Come on, Amazon - you're better than that.3 stars due to the bad scanning - otherwise it's still one of my favorite book series and I'd recommend it.- Ron Donofero

Not particularly good
When I first read "On a Pale Horse" (book one of the Incarnations of Immortality series) I was utterly blown away. It was a fantastic, thought provoking, highly original and imaginative story, and I couldn't wait to read the next in the series.Next came "Bearing an Hourglass". Whilst nowhere near as good as On a Pale Horse, it was still enjoyable and had some interesting and original ideas. Then came "With a Tangled Skein". With a Tangled Skein is not as good as Bearing an Hourglass, and totally inferior to On a Pale Horse.I am sorry to say that I see a pattern here, and it is not one I like so much. It seems that I like each book in the series less than the one before it.There are a lot of things wrong with With a Tangled Skein. Its extremely sexist, the characters are not all that well developed and the conflict isn't really very interesting. I thought the role of Fate was one of the more boring, which was a big dissapointment to me because I expected to find it a lot more interesting than it was.The overall conflict concerning Satan was poorly done. Satan was a very shallow character, uninteresting and not at all very frightening. There was no sense of danger to the main character, and for the most part, I found much of that part of the story very dull. This was a weak, uninteresting book. I did read it, and I got through it quite quickly. I enjoyed it enough to finish it, but I was left feeling that I'd wasted my time. I thought things might pick up towards the end, but they didn't.

E-book is good..but
I loved reading these books when I was younger, and I had access to them as the actual books. I later bought the last 4 books in the series and never realized that I didn't have the first 3 so, I bought them for Kindle because I didn't want to wait. They are, in most respects, the exact same books. However, the problem is that whoever is doing the conversions from paper to electronics IS NOT PROOFREADING. I'm already mostly done with the book and have found numerous typos, symbols instead of letters in words, or just plain gibberish for words. I've read the original book and these are not in evidence. So, this e-book is convenient in that you get it fast, but it pales compared to the real book in your hands because someone is not doing their jobs in transcribing it. Too many times have I read "Ced-ric" instead of Cedric as it should have been. I shall try to see if I can notify Amazon about this, but I plan to eventually buy the paperback.

Another briliant installment.
This is another installment in the series and if you have gotten to this novel than you must be hooked with the series. The interesting thing about all of the novels is how Anthony interconnects all of the characters. While some of the plot elements might seem to repeat themselves slightly, the character development and interaction is what kept me so interested as it was quite well done.

A great, pro female book
I loved this book, and it's narrator Niobe is a force. I am also surprised by the strong, pro female tone of the book, especially having come from a male writer in the 1980's

Holding an Untangled Skein
This book was wonderful. I couldn't put the Kindle down. I loved the way the book was worded and where things went in this story. There was nothing I disliked. I would give this book an A++ marking.I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great fantasy. Even to those who just want a great book to read.Once you start this book, I'm better sure, you will not be able to put it down.

Interesting Third Book in the Series but....
I read this book in about a day, and it was cleverly done. However, the typos were horrific. After the first couple chapters it seemed the typos took over every page. Like other reviewers stated it seems like this was written for the teenage boy in mind. My boyfriend actually suggested it saying he read it as a teen, knowing I will read anything he is always quick to suggest other books for me to read. Also, unlike the other books this one took huge jumps in time and accomplished it in just one or two pages. Understanding the reasoning behind this was to get Fate to the right time and place to best Satan however, the first half of the book was all about Niobe as a mortal and her marriage to Cedric and then a long view of her life as clotho, the second half of the book spanned decades with brief explanations that played like the book was wrapping up only to begin again in one long final scene of the maze. The maze was also interesting because it used common brain teasers that have been used for generations. The boat crossing and the weighing of coins for example.I will read the rest of the series but I am hoping that at least the typos do not reoccur in the other two final books.

Kindle edition rife with errors
This is a good book, but the Kindle edition was clearly made by scanning the pages with OCR and then not proofreading. There are so many typos. Some make it difficult to understand the text, and others make for unintentional comedy: "The vision of the huge spider had Anally convinced her that Atropos meant business"- clearly that capital A was meant to be "fi", but ouch.

Recht gutes Buch, jedoch schlechtes ebook

A much improved continuation of the saga
The third book of the Incarnations of Immortality series was much improved, and a worthy sequel to the original On a Pale Horse. The action flowed well from start to finish, with a more detailed insight into not just the main character, but the supporting players as well. The other Incarnations also figured more prominently than in the first two books, with some rich interaction offering a chance to further understand how they work so closely together. One word of caution for anyone looking to order the Kindle version - the spelling and punctuation is absolutely horrible. You almost get the feeling that a hand written document was digitized, but the computer couldn't always figure out what was on the page. At times, it made the reading difficult, a real shame to blemish an otherwise fine story.

Extrem fehlerbehaftete Kindle-Version

Defies Expectations
Piers Anthony sets up expectations that often seem pedantic and rote only to turn them on their heads once again.
