My cat loves this bag. So much fun to travel with him. My cat is part Maine Coone and therefore a large cat at 14lbs. He fits perfectly and has plenty of room. Very sturdy and I should have not trouble taking him on a plane with me. Also, this bag was sturdy enough for him as it did not collapse on him. Plus I look pretty cool carrying him on my back.

I already had a carrier for my cat that worked well enough, a duffel-like black bag with a shoulder strap. But when I took Newt on a flight with me a few months ago, that bag proved to be a big pain for us both - even though there was a firm insert for the bottom of the carrier, my cat's 8 pound body was bending the liner. Newt sagged down and the sides crept in on her, which she tolerated but many cats might not have. More importantly, the weight distribution became very awkward and difficult to handle, which is the last thing you want for a bag you have to lug around airports.So with another flight coming up, I splurged on this backpack and promised myself that if there was a single thing I didn't like about it, I'd return it. I'm happy to report that I kept this case, and ditched my old one too!As soon as I got this, I unwrapped it and placed it on the floor, reading tips on replacing the window. Newt ran over, sniffed this carrier, and immediately scratched the hell out of one of the mesh windows on the side. I was horrified at first, but it ended up being a very good thing! The mesh stayed perfectly intact and showed no sign of my cat's excited claiming scratches - it made me feel secure at the airport knowing that Newt wasn't going to be able to tear the mesh if she got bored in transit.The floor of this carrier is SOLID. Newt can relax a lot more when she can sit how she likes on her blanket instead of having to bend to the will of a flimsy bag. I could even hang her up on the hook in a bathroom stall without mushing her or making her uncomfortable. Sounds like a little thing, but if you're travelling solo with a pet every bit of convenience is exciting.My only problem with this bag is the sheer amount of attention it garners. It's cute as heck, and pretty hilarious, so I understand why it's a head turner! But I had so many people (students, children, parents, retirees...the full range) asking me questions, calling "kitty!", peering into the bag...all of the attention was positive, but at the end of the day I just wanted to turn off and get home. At least Newt didn't mind the extra fuss. :)This backpack is worth the money, and is a comfortable, fun, and easy way to transport your pet without sacrificing their security, safety, or comfort. Just make sure your pet is small enough to fit before you buy!

The first time with put our cat, Bob, in the carrier he hated it! We walked around the block and he meowed and meowed. HOWEVER, the second time we put him in it, he gladly climbed in and we hiked around Bryce Canyon. He smelled everything he could and seemed to enjoy watching people. Before our trip, we purposely left the carrier out and he began sleeping in it, which I think helped him to accept it later before we moved across the country and needed to use it.Pros: Comfortable for the cat (even our larger Maine coon mix), easy to pack/store, we plan to use this instead of the other cat carrier for vet trips, works well for travelers and adventures cats, made quick stops while traveling and moving across the country easier and we did not need to leave him in a hot car!Cons: Uncomfortable for HUMAN, thus the minus 1 star (digs into lower back, especially when pet moves)

Finally! I just received Pudding's travel case in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and already I can tell that it is a purchase well spent. I purchased two of another travel bag of which they were both ripped by Pudding. She destroyed the second one in the airport which caused us some grief. She hated being in them. This time I decided to spend the money and get a quality backpack for her. Well, what a difference. The material is very sturdy and there is no way she will be able to rip through the "mesh" or plastic dome (not that she will want to, because surprisingly, she loves it)! She was initially hesitant, but after I put her in, she was relaxed and enjoyed the ride. Not one peep out of her. I even switched with my daughter who was also able to handle carrying our eleven pound Shih Tzu-Maltese. During the hand off, still no issue with Pudding. I included some pictures of us with her as well as this product and the other one that was a waste of money. Also noted in the pictures is the latch for the leash. A bonus. I did not include the dome, as I have not figured out how to swap with the "mesh" as yet. There are no instructions. No big deal. It can stay remain as it is. May review again after our return to the states.

Aside from the fact that the backpack comes without instructions and is not exactly the easiest to figure out how to work (in terms of switching out the mesh opening for the bubble opening), I really like this product and believe it is well-made. I took my two kittens to the vet today in this backpack. One is 4 lb. and the other kitten is 2 lb. They were fighting over who gets the stick her head in the bubble! It's an adorable little carrier and I received so many compliments. The vet himself said that he sees hundreds of cats day in and day out and he has never seen his staff react to a carrier that way. So, there ya go. Attached a photo of my two kitties in the carrier on the way to the vet. Oh, I did want to add that while there were no instructions, the seller and other purchasers did provide them pretty quickly after I asked (woohoo).
