Must have fix for Smart TV too stupid for over-the-air-broadcasts!
We accidentally bought a VIZIO "Smart TV" that has no installed software for streaming and no coax connection port; guess SMART is one of those words that doesn't mean what it used to anymore. We dumped DirecTV and wanted to get the local channels through the ancient magic of Free Broadcast, so we stuck an indoor antenna on the window, plugged it into this box, HDMI connected this box to the beautiful but functionally useless TV and it all works better than my daddy's TV back when he used to watch Bonanza and Gunsmoke without having to skip meals to pay for it; and I don''t even have to climb up on the roof to turn the antenna anymore! Menu system is about as intuitive as most other "smart" stuff these days; be patient and it'll work itself out. I stuck a flashdrive in the USB slot and it stores shows better than my VCR ever did. Don't know what else it could do that it doesn't do.

the picture is good. I have tried three different USB hard drives
This device will work for a couple of minutes, then it starts to reboot continuously until it is unplugged. The instructions are incomplete and refer to push buttons that do not appear on the remote control. The control sequences do not operate as specified in the manual. For the couple of minutes in which it works, the picture is good. I have tried three different USB hard drives, but cannot record more than a couple of minutes of a show. This device spends a lot of your time asking you to "WAIT". If the manufacturer wants to make a sale, they should make the tuner operate in the manner described in their manual. I am not about to spend any more of my time trying to debug their product.

Had to use a USB hard-drive. Flash drives didn't work.
It has a few quirks, but does an okay job.1. You can't watch a pre-recorded program while recording something else.2. Software appears to freeze, but then the device resets and works. It has never done this while recording a program though.3. Didn't adjust for daylight savings time.4. When buffering (watching while still recording), it will stop playing when the recording ends and does not remember your place.5. Couldn't get this to work with a flash-drive, as it would corrupt them. Works great with a USB hard-drive.

Ths ATSC Tuner is pretty good; Remote is TINY!
I Purchased this ATSC Tuner to hook up to my Free 42" Plasma Monitor. After installing the RCA Wiring and Antenna, I turned on Tuner, which displayed "boot" and later, "8.1" on small Display. That Channel's Broadcast came on the Plasma, which was fine: I was going to soon watch the Super Bowl. When the Game was over, I tried other stations, but only got 3 sub-stations related to 8.1. I decided to try to Scan for Over-the-air stations the next time I turned on Plasma, which was the following Saturday. I had to use a Magnifying Glass to read the very tiny Print in the User's Manual. I had trouble getting the proper screen to display to start scanning: had issues with both the tiny Remote and the correct Screen to be displayed. I finally got the Tuner to start Scanning for available Stations. I got 39 which was interesting: with the SAME Antenna, I got 52 Stations on my 26" LCD TV. I Watched a few Broadcasts and left the Tuner on "6.1"; I only hope the Tuner starts on that Station the next Time I turn on Tuner.

BEST BUY FOR THE BUCK ! ! !
This tuner is a great TV appliance for on the on air broadcasting stations and networks. I retrieves it's time clock data from on stations you can program the recorder from the digital program guide that it also retrieves from the on air stations. TV programs are recorded as computer file on a flash drive or external HD. Using this media you may watch your programs on your TV or computer in high definition.I use a 16 g flash drive and copy them to my computer hard drive for later viewing. It can also receive digital FM radio transmissions. The tuner's sensitivity is as good the antenna and station out put power, and terrain. But all in all, BEST BUY FOR THE BUCK ! ! !

I was really hoping that this would work in my ...
I was really hoping that this would work in my travel trailer. RV parks usually have cable TV hook ups and present cable channels in "clear QAM", which means the channels are not encrypted and do not need a specialized cable set top box to descramble the channels. Usually, the clear QAM channels are not high definition. I have two televisions that can tune in the clear QAM signals at any given campground. I also have a HD over the air antenna made by Winegard that will pick up HD broadcast channels within a 60 mile radius. The antenna is powered and works quite well. I bought this tuner so I could record a program on one channel while watching a program on another channel. Unfortunately, this tuner will NOT pick up clear QAM signals from cable. It did pick up the channels from the Winegard antenna. When I went to return the item, I had to pay $12.38 in shipping fees, which bothers me because the tuner does not function as advertised and I think the misrepresentation of the product should be taken into account and the shipping costs should be picked up by AllAboutAdapters. I just wanted to let people know about this issue about shipping.

Love it but has issues
Unless the antenna signal is 80% or greater the recorder will record a choppy pixelated video even though when watching it live while recording the signal is fine
