Meh, I think I am too used to Dawn.
First off, thank you for offering this. I bought this because I am tired buying product in plastic bottles. It is a great idea and I am in the market for a plastic-free dish soap.Unfortunately, I really really wanted to like it but I find myself wanting it to be gone. I have used regular old-fashioned lye soap in the past during living history events, and this reminds me of that almost exactly. With really hot water, I can eventually get the grease off the dishes but it takes a bit of elbow grease. My kids usually wash any plastic containers and I am finding that they can't get them clean because of how specific you have to be with a certain amount of pressure to clean the grease and remaining soap build up on the dishes. The grease just floats at the surface of the water and anything that passes through the layer gets re-coated again so I find myself emptying out the water more than I used to. I do think that I am used the harshness of dawn so I am trying to retrain my brain but, in the end, this product isn't producing the results I want.It is scent free but I am finding that I don't like the non-scent scent. I put a little lavender essential oil into the water to help the smell.

Works well, wish it smelled better.
Overall I think it works well and I will continue to use a bar dish soap. It's not much more difficult to use than liquid, you just have to adjust to holding the bar and scrubbing it with the dish scrubber. It gets off grease just fine as long as you pair it with warm/hot water. It doesn't get as sudsy as liquid soap but there are still definite suds. It falls apart pretty quickly and the broken bits are somewhat annoying to use to get on the brush to scrub dishes, but it's still lasting months.I wish it had even a mild scent because it almost seems like it takes on the scent of the dirty dishes. The dishes don't smell bad after they've been washed and rinsed but the soap doesn't smell good as you're washing the dishes. It isn't terribly strong. I'm going to try another brand next and see how it goes, but I would use this again to avoid using plastic bottles for sure.

Cost efficient and eco-friendly
This is a great zero waste product with two caveats that need to be adjusted to. (Hence the 4 stars)First is that at the time of this review the shipping can take around a week, which makes calculating when you need to get the soap a bit tricky. I have contacted the seller and they have said they are looking in to being a part of the subscribe and save program, which would be very helpful.Second is that you need to save your greasy dishes for the end of your dishwashing amd be prepared to wash them, drain the water, and wash them again. That is a little annoying but given the price to use ratio and the idea of having a home staple cut down to zero waste is incredible. Would highly recommend even if you're looking for a way to save money as this bar lasted me around two months for fifteen dollars.

Weird smell, not easy for greasy dishes
I really like that I don't have to use any plastic in my kitchen now, but it does take some getting used to! With greasy dishes, I wash two or three times before it's grease-free. It suds up very well, but as some others have noted, there is a strange smell. I have smelled it before on my pans when they were heated up on the stove, but all the ingredients are non-toxic so I cooked anyway and didn't have any strange taste in my food. It is a bar, so it's different, but a plastic-free wooden dish brush works really well with it! Just need to have a little more patience and a little more time, but to me it's worth it to keep more plastic out of the trash!

Long lasting and works fine.
I’ve now used two different brands of dishwashing bar, this one and the one from Meliora. They both work fine but have slightly different strengths. This one lasts longer than the one from Meliora but it will leave a haze on some dishes (plastic and silicone in my experience) if you’re not really thorough about your rinsing. The one from Meliora doesn’t last as long but I haven’t noticed the problem with the haze.Since this one lasts longer it’s probably a slightly better deal from a money perspective but only if you’re willing to put in that extra effort on your rinsing. If it was the only one I’d ever tried though I would have kept using it.

Effective, not for big, greasy messes
I have used this block occasionally for a few weeks. Overall, it works well, although it seems to be somewhat less powerful than standard, grocery store liquid detergents. For one thing, it's less sudsy, so after washing two or three small items, I find myself having to apply more soap to continue on. As others have said, it looks like it's not as powerful on grease. I have to apply it at least twice on greasy pans so ensure that there is no grease film left on them. It's not perfect, but worth the effort if using it means to reduce plastic use. I would recommend this product only for small, occasional washes (which is what I use it for... I use the dishwasher for big loads), but not for regular use on large scale.

Absolutely love it except when it breaks apart at the end.
I love this soap. I love reducing my use of plastic. It cleans great and it is easy to use in my soap container on the counter. It does not leave any residue on my dishes. My only complaint is what to do when is get too low and breaks apart. I hate to throw it out but it get hard to use. There has to be a solution?? I don’t want to switch back to plastic soap bottles.

No plastic! Good cleaning power. Gentile on hands.
Good stuff! I bought it mostly because I'm trying to cut back on unnecessary plastic. I discovered that bar shampoo works every bit as well for my waist-length hair as Pantene and doesn't poison me with chemicals and leave me with useless plastic trash. So, I gave this dish soap a go. It's great. The bar sits on my sink and I run my sponge over it and go after crystal glasses and greasy skillets. It has handled it all just as well as Dawn. No perfumey smell. No harm to my hands. It takes up very little sink real estate. And, it makes me smile to know that no toxic junk is coming from the soap nor from the container. It's lasting quite a while, but when it's gone, I'll be reordering.
