My budgie used to be a chronic egg layer. Once she layed over 15 eggs at a time poor thing. She can spot a fake egg a mile away. If the color is a little off, if it is a little larger, she knows and keeps on laying. These are foolproof. They are solid and opaque like her real eggs. In the long run you will pay less for these dummy eggs-in shipping, waiting, and exchanging eggs that don't fool your bird. Get it right the first time and don't worry!PS another tip-We had onne kind of calcium which she never ate. After reading several posts I bought her 2 other kinds so had a total of 3 types in her cage-calcium block, cuttlebone and I believe eggshell. She immediately went to the cuttlebone. Now she is eating calcium. I believe before she started eating calcium the eggs she laid were transulcent because of lack of calcium. She may have kept laying because her instinct told her they may not hatch. I don't know. Now the eggs she is laying are more opaque and she only lays about 5 and stops. . The eggs she lays are opaque and along with the dummy eggs-I put about 9- she is acting normally. Just a suggestion!

I would have given 5 stars, but the eggs come with a file so you have to smoothen the rough edges yourself. My bird did accept the eggs and the strategy seems to be working. The dummy eggs seems to be the only solution to the constant egg and chick production.

These dummy eggs absolutely worked. My diamond doves were laying like crazy. I don't want them to have more babies but every time I took the eggs away they would just lay more. Taking the eggs away caused a lot of chaos in my little coterie. The doves would get upset and start fighting with each other over nests. Now they just happily sit on their eggs and all is peaceful. My girls still lay about two eggs a month once when they realize their eggs are not going to hatch, but that's much better than laying every other day.

Received 7 dummy eggs with file, a little irritated that the seller wants me to do my own quality control and can't be bothered to make sure the eggs were smooth before shipping, given the expense for 7 tiny eggs. Budgie accepted the eggs and after about 2 weeks of sitting on them, she stopped laying her own. That lasted approximately 3 weeks until she started laying her own. Not sure what to do at this point to get my female budgie to stop laying beside covering them early and limiting their food types. This product worked but only temporarily.

Helped my parakeet stop laying eggs, so these are great. The color is just enough different from a real egg that you can tell them apart. Thanks for helping my bird out. :)

A bit expensive, and maybe i didn't need them, but they are realistic and my budgie girl cannot tell the difference between them and the real eggs. I was using little polished stones to replace eggs before i got these, and she sat on those even though they looked nothing like eggs.

Looks exactly like a real egg. Stopped my parakeet from non stop laying. She happily sits on these all day.
