Josephine Cox -Outcast
Enjoyed this book and couldn't wait to read the second of the series. I love all Josephine books and can re-read them several times. I would recommend it to someone who loves a bit of romance and mystery.

Over many years I have read a lot of books written by Josephine Cox but I couldn't recall reading Emma Grady Trilogy so went ahead and bought the three books, this being the first one. As usual with this writer I thoroughly enjoyed it and at the end of the first book could not wait to start on the other two. I would recommend it because it was a great read.

Books v ebooks!
I like trilogies. I had books 2 and 3 but had difficulty finding a new number 1 in the series. I don’t really like buying secondhand books, so was pleased to find it as an ebook on amazon. First timer for ebooks. Print was so clear, but found holding the iPad a little uncomfortable. Have to admit though that I still prefer a book. Story was good, and I am now on book 3!

Outcast....
This is my first Josephine Cox book and it's not half bad. A bit slow to start but once it did it kept a good pace.Set in horrendous times during the closing of the cotton mills in Blackburn and the pending war with the newly formed state of America it tells the tale of Emma Grady who sadly loses her Papa and is entrusted in to her Uncle's care who does all he can to not only rob Emma of her inheritance but rid her from himself altogether.Due to a set of circumstances this does actually happen and Emma is first married off and then again due to a set of circumstances beyond her control is sent off to Australia as a convict and there the tale ends but picks up again in Alley Urchins and then finally in Vagabonds.During Emma's very traumatic time she loses everything she holds dear literally and is so close to losing her faith too. I felt anguish that such a young woman of 17 years of age could go through so much and my heart cried out to her.Really a book of survival more than anything with meticulous research of those turbulent times so well done Josephine, I look forward to reading Alley Urchins to see how Emma fares on her life's journey.

Heartbreaking
This book really touched me. The story of Emma Grady, her ill father and the terrible relatives who took them in then took advantage of their finances. Emma met and fell in love with a barnamed Marlow, it was first love and they both felt the same, but some things are not meant to be. This is their story, it will pull you in and take you on their journey both good and bad. I would highly recommend this book.

What a trilogy
I had to re-read The Outcast prior to reading the following two books to remind myself of the story as I was it some time ago since I read it, I could not stop for a break as these three books are fabulous by far the best I read in a long while I would also like to say it would be wonderful to see a screen adaption of them as they do with Catherine Cookson novels

Such an intriguing story
I just loved this story from beginning to end but was a left a little short changed by the ending! However a novel that you just can't put down!I am sure I have read another Josephine Cox novel that is a sequel to this one but can't remember the name of it at the moment. It will no doubt come to me!

Outcast. Josephine Cox my all time favourite book
This book is one of the best books I've ever read an d I have read thousands. It's a haunting story of an orphan girl called Emma who was left in the care of her aunt and uncle by her beloved father. Little did he know they were cruel and were only helping in order to gain her inheritance. I have read this topology many times now and I'd say it should be made into a movie. It's very sad and left me feeling distraught and angry. On the lines of gathering cookson this girl has to struggle for her freedom and happiness. Will she ever find any?

Cheap and cheerful good service
Have read this trilogy of books before on kindle. Was looking for a hardcopy for my mom to read. Ex library book, all complete pages. Looks a bit dated and used but reflects in the price.

Given up so far
Oh, dear. A fairly typical poor relative at the mercy of her cruel guardians type of plot, with a handsome but unsuitable hero on the side, and no harm in that at all. However, I've been irritated by use of the wrong words twice (indulgent instead of the very different self-indulgent)and another I can't recall without going through the pages again) but finally gave up when the heroine and her fiance did the foxtrot at a ball in 1860 or 1861 (book set just before the American Civil War started) The foxtrot didn't come into being as a dance until the 1920/30s

Downloaded this book on my kindle. I’ve read a lot of her books and enjoyed every one of them. I haven’t read this yet but I’m sure it will be just as good. This book is part of a trilogy.
