Review: Fits, Works, and saved me a ton of money - I am now a mechanic! The 2001 Ford Ranger again smoothly runs! I think I will take a victory lap or two to relish the smooth runing 3 liter 6 cylinder engine. For less than $40 and 30 minutes of my time I got the truck running again. This effort resulted in a savings of hundreds of dollars (many hundreds) from the quote Christian Brothers provided to me. So simple. Order part from desertcart (saving $80 from the dealership price) receive in two days. Open hood, disconnect battery, remove 3 bolts on the installed coil (after using a Marks-A-Lot to number the plug wires), remove wires. Spray on more mosquito repellent. Open box, place new coil where the old one was and bolt down with the removed bolts. Insert the plug wires according to the markings. Connect the positive clamp to the battery. Start engine - and see the "Check Engine" light is now no longer glowing. Engine in running smoothly and all is right (for the time being) in the world. This is not rocket surgery. You can do it. Now for another day - I bought new plug wires and spark plugs. Christian Brothers wanted to replace them - said they were old. And indeed they are old - but on 37,213 miles on the truck. I thought the plugs would be good for at least 50,000. Nevertheless - I bought wires and plugs on desertcart saving a pretty penny over local parts stores. By doing this (buying on desertcart and installing myself) I am going to save around $1,000! Replacing a coil - like falling off a log. Replacing the SP Wires - well a bit of contortion, but no skill required. Replacing the plugs - more contortion, right tools needed, and a bit of time. These steps are not anything but talking off and putting back on. One does not need to know anything about how a gasoline engine works or how to adjust it. This is really nothing more than changing a flat tire. Don't get ripped off as I was going to be until I told them NO. Give a try and enjoy your success and newly found money.

**Q: how much is the secondary resistance ? how many ohms?**
A: About 40,000 volts. When checking resistance with meter you should have between .4 to 2 ohms on primary side and between 6,000 and 15,000 ohms on secondary side of coil pack.

**Q: What is the difference between the fd-498t and the fd-498? they both are for the same vehicle.**
A: fd-498 is part of the Blue Streak series and is black.  fd-498t is gray.  Yes they fit the same vehicles.  Web site offers no additional info.

**Q: What's the warranty on it?**
A: I don't know how long the warranty is. I ordered it to replace the bad coil pack on my 2002 Ford Ranger V6. At the time of the install it had 89.000 miles. I gave the truck to my daughter and she drove it another 50,000 miles before giving it to my grandson who drove it for another year driving it from Missouri to Deer Park, TX every two weeks.
He traded it for a new truck but the Ranger was still running great. For the price compared to the dealer price I thought I'd try it. I would order the same part again.
