Nice kit to make wood inlays from home-made templates.
I really like this kit. In no time I was cutting inlays in wood. It does have some limitations. If you try to make something very small the curvature of the bits may limit you. It seemed to work fine for any template design I made bigger that and inch or so. The bits are good quality and the brass components are well made. You can get incredible accuracy with this. Once you understand how it works it is relatively easy to use. The bits are sharp and should last quite a while before needing sharpening or replacement. I think the price is reasonable for what you get, it should last for a very long time. You can make quite a variety of shapes, really limited to your imagination. I made templates out of 1/4 inch stock on a scroll saw.

Love routering and this is great
If you are planning on routering designs into wood or use with a template, this is a must have for that type of work. Plenty of on lines videos on how to use if you are not familiar. There was a time when I didn’t know something like this existed but once I used it, I couldn’t believe how effective it is and how it simplifies the job. Like anything else, right tool for the right job.

Easy to use, performs well
Not sure I’m following the negative reviews.I had never tried bow tie inlays and was curious to try it out in a desk I’m building. Probably more cosmetic than functional but I wanted to secure a couple of cracks and gave this bushing/bit a try.Easy to set up, experimented on a couple of scrap pieces and went ahead and made walnut bow ties that I inserted in the chestnut desk. Worked like a charm.4 stars as time will tell if it can withstand longer usage.

Great for the Price
For all the 1 & 2 stars reviews… those folks have no idea how to use this. You can’t go B’s deep at the first go. Light passes… especially in hardwood. It’s an art that may need practice as well. Does come with the center pin… use it. As you can tell in my measurement photos I shot a bit down the side slightly thinking I could just eyeball center. Is the bit on the cheap side, yes, but the purchase should be for the bushings. I picked up a longer reach 1/8 bit as well. And guess what.. still broke it too when cutting in some Purple Heart. That’s part of the game boys and girls.

Price and quality are the value
Very respectable router accessory. Wish I had bought it sooner.

Burning wood, wont cut. Maybe I got a dud? Too late to return
I love Powertec stuff, so I was incredibly surprised when I mounted the bit and attempted to route out a template , as I’ve done countless times. Smoke rose out of the piece, which refused to move in any direction no matter what I did — almost like it was completely dull.Unfortunately the piece sat for far too long in my shop before I had a chance to use it, as sometimes happens, so returning isn’t an option. As I said, I usually love Powertec stuff, but apparently every brand has an off unit here or there.

Works very well
I’ve been wanting to try wood inlay for a while with my 1/4 makita router. This kit worked very well. Walnut table top inlay with maple leaves and the bit is still going strong. Maple is very hard and burns easily, so I went slow and cleaned out my channels with the first pass. I bought a second bit due to some of the reviews, but so far, I have not needed it. I have some bluing on the bit, but I expect for it to last my next couple projects at least. Well worth the cost!
