Useful book on plumbing
This is a really useful book, loads of info about plumbing. Very well illustrated with step-by-step diagrams and photos. If you've any major plumbing jobs, read this first. It'll save you no end of headaches. One star down as it's really written for a transatlantic audience, but most of the info is relevant for the UK

Same as the 3rd edition
So I had the 3rd edition from last year, which I rate at 5 stars as it's really good, and better than the two other plumbing books I bought. Then the 4th edition came out, and I thought that since the last one was so good, that I would pony up for the updates. However, after leafing through both books, except for the cover, as far as I can tell, it's EXACTLY the same book. It's like they just redid the cover and NOTHING else. So if you have the 3rd edition, don't need to buy the 4th. If you don't, then whichever is available/cheaper.

Too basic to be useful
This tells you how to wrap teflon tape on pipe threads and hook up a sink, but says absolutely nothing about system design. The very important fact that all drain pipes need a .25" slope per foot is only mentioned in a photo caption, for instance. Very disappointed.

not organized or easy to find
The publisher's name tells who this is for. There are hidden dos and don't information here but, not organized or easy to find. You will need to read everything printed and look at all the pics of the section your need information about to find the Easter eggs.. I wish I had gotten the kindle version this wouldn't take up shelf space then I probably use search. Nice pictures and a font that is not too fine or small. I guess computer search has spoiled me and doesn't help my CRS, I bumped it up a star.

Don't have to hire a plumber
We are in the process of flipping a home that has a lot of plumbing issues. This book is a wealth of information and covers a range of topics. With the book, we are able to make the million plumbing corrections on our own without paying a plumber. Saves us a lot of money.

Clear advice, great pictures, but wish there was more theory
I actually like this book, the pictures are clear and the various tools and fittings which can be bewildering are explained concisely. However, I wish that before each project there was a section devoted to the theory of why things are done a certain way. Understanding vents, and traps for example really does help when taking apart the bathroom sink to fix clogs. Maybe a chapter at the front of the book explaining various household plumbing systems would give people context when attempting home repairs. If it was a separate chapter it could be easily skipped if readers just wanted the information to fix the problem.

5 star book... 4 star shipping.
Really excited about the contents of the book. The visuals and content are exactly what I need to get a better understanding of how plumbing works and how to maintain it. Very clear step-by-step instructions.I am sad to see that it took some damage during shipping. It could have been packaged more securely.

Excellent
I don’t know a lot about plumbing but I know a lot more now! Plumber charged $2k just for 30’ gas line and then didn’t get it buried properly and house got water inside. Supposed to be one of the best. So now we’ll save as much as possible doing most ourselves
