I find “How to be a Healthy Vegetarian, an insightful read. Nancy Addison does a wonderful job in getting her words across to a variety of audiences. Whether you are a person of the general public or a clinician, this book will be an asset to your way of life and eating habits. In today’s sugar addicted world that is confused and inundated with information about when to eat, what to eat, where to eat, and so forth, Ms. Addison politely and respectfully gives the answers in a way that can be easily be implemented into any household starting tomorrow. From the chapter, Alkalize the Body, she immediately addresses the “acid effect”. Too many people are on acid regulating drugs and the fact is they may be horribly acid deficient due to a paucity of greens in their diet. Taking a drug does not increase the green intake. Greens help to alkalize the body. Throughout her book there are multiple studies that reveal this problem as well as recipes and suggestions to improve upon the problem.As a health care provider, it is a cumbersome, yet dutiful, responsibility to facilitate better eating habits in many of my patients. This book is an immediate “go to” resource which saves me hours in the practice and still gives the patient a tangible resource that they can have in their hands and leave in the kitchen!From foods to body and cleaning products, the second edition continues to expand from the first edition with updated materials and information. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Addison brings us in her next book. A friend recommended this book to me to get some sage advice ...
I am not a vegetarian but I try to eat most of my meals without meat. A friend recommended this book to me to get some sage advice and fantastic recipes. I have made several of the recipes in the book and none of them have disappointed. The author seems extremely knowledgable about being a vegetarian and a heathy one at that (yes I have known unhealthy vegetarians). I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in incorporating more fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes into their life. One of my favorite go to books for advice and ideas.

Added my sparkle back to my life!
I was a baby to all this "organic" and healthy eating until I read Nancy Addison's book. I started her recommendations for a healthy cleanse/lifestyle with food June 6, 2016 and I have had a body transformation. It was a read I couldn't put down because the words filled my soul and I could truly digest what I needed to do. I was a simplistic cook and her recipes she includes are easy to follow and not overwhelming. I highly recommend this book to anyone new to this world of eating, cooking and grocery shopping!Pamela Honeycutt

Very informative
This is a great book for anyone who wants to eat healthier and practice a healthy lifestyle. This book is easy to understand and follow. It doesn’t “preach” it delivers facts for the reader to form their own opinions. Even if you haven’t completely converted to a vegetarian it will help you make better choices. Something for everyone in this book.

Her research and natural remedies address an amazing range of concerns from our body and hair to moods and stress to our choice of cleaning products!As a working mother, it is amazing and relieving to have at my fingertips 110 vegetarian recipes are both simple and delicious. Nancy is an expert!
Nancy knows her stuff! I heard Nancy speak and was really excited to get her book. She is truly an expert. Several minor physical ailments have been helped by using her information. Great recipes also!
