Nearly tossed it, then found the sweet spot
Granted, I wasn't trying every free chance I got, but every time I'd see my Pooter on the shelf while searching for something else, I'd try it again, only to fail, repeatedly. At best, I'd get the high pitch squeaks that sounded more like a mouse fart (guessing here) than anything resembling a human fart. But alas, right as I was about to go with another, I found it--that magical spot on the hand that brings the pitch down to a low rumbling splat or muffled fart vs. the mouse squeak. I'll do my best to describe it in hopes it works for you, but one thing I should caveat -- if yours is new, you have to "work" it down, i.e., squeeze it a bunch of times until the rubber toy is easier to squeeze. But once you're there...I used my left hand and it worked. Look on the toy and you might see some sort of small circular extrusion on the edge (on the side, but near the end that has the hole). Granted this could simply be something that happened in the making of mine, but for whatever reason, I use this as a reference point and I'll do the same here. Put that circular extrusion midway between the webbing of your thumb and your first finger. I'm just shy of 40 and my hands aren't huge, but I can almost reach the top of the toy with the tip of my thumb. Using your other fingers, squeeze and see if you hear anything. If you still get only air or a mouse squeak, try inching the toy over the webbing (i.e. almost like it's about to slip through your hand at that webbing between your thumb and your index finger). Don't inch it so much that you now see the hole of the toy as you won't get the necessary friction that causes the fart noise, but keep trying in that area until you start hearing the fart noise. Once you get close, lick the bottom of your hand (or moisten the toy with saliva) and the farts sound even more realistic.Keep trying until you find that sweet spot. Again, my sweet spot may differ from yours, but eventually you'll get it and bring lots of humor to your house.

Waste of money. OVERPRICED.
Firstly, this is a $5 item, at most. It's just a cheap piece of rubber with a bit of plastic. Not a $15 item. -2 stars.Secondly, there is a bit of a learning curve. But it's hard to do. It's not nearly as simple as they make it out to be.Thirdly, and perhaps my biggest problem with this... this item was made in 2015. The product packaging says to go to the manufacturer's website for how to videos. As of 2020, the web page for the videos is still "coming soon". Yeah, they aren't coming. Don't advertise videos you don't have any intention of making. It's also very difficult to get a consistent sound with this. It makes me wonder about the prank videos Jack Vale shows on Youtube. The sound is not loud enough to have been captured on video, through his pocket, from 15 feet away in a busy store. I wonder if those were edited in.It also make an almost equally loud noise when it fills back up with air - which quickly gives it away. But considering that half your attempts won't make a realistic sound, you'll be found out before you get a real one off, anyway.I returned this and bought a remote control fart machine. At least you know you'll get a real sound each time.If this was priced much lower - like $5 - it would be a cool gag gift. But this is way too overpriced for what it is.

"Do you know what they mean when they say there's a log in the fire?" Poot!
I been watching the you tube videos with this product and I couldn't stop laughing. I first watched the farting with attitude one in Central Park and I had to get this product. I also watched jack vales old man farting videos where he goes up to people at target and says stuff like "what did the duck say when I stepped on it?" Then he makes the fart noise! Or he says "do you know what they mean when they say free the bird from the cage?" *fart*. This product is difficult to use from the . When you get it you have to break it in because the rubber I very stiff and needs to be stretched and played with to break it in. Also when making the noises you will mostly get the small squeaky high pitch kitten farts at first. Like jack vales videos say on youtube you need to practice and its an art. He doesn't it very good! I practiced a lot with mine while I drive, at work, at home, and just relaxing. My hand it tired too so I switch hands. I had this product for about a couple of months with lots of practicing. This pooter is pretty durable made of thick rubber and plastic where the air comes out of the hole. When practicing you have to position the pooter in different locations around the base of your thumb where it is more flabby. I find that if you get a good sound and you are in the exact same position than your sounds will be consistent. I'm not as good as jack vale or humor bagel but I did make progress and sound better than when I started. Everybody is different. Some get it fast some are slow to learn like me. It's a good funny product that does sound realistic but you just need practice, practice, and more practice. And break it in soft rubber too. Good luck!

Poot!
I was more than excited to purchase the pooter... I've seen all his videos and laughed so hard my side started to hurt many of times, but when I actually got the pooter, I was a little disappointed. It works okay I guess, still makes funny noises, but it's really hard to squeeze, let a lone to get it to make a raunchy fart noise. It says right in the package to "work with it" for a while, well we played with it for several hours for a few days and it never got any easier to use... I planned on pulling some pranks at work (I work in retail, and the regular customers would love this!), but I'm not so sure it would be easy for me to do.I'll always love the idea of the pooter and Jack Vale's funny videos but i'm a little sad I can't use it easily!
