Inspirational
I've read bits of Marden's books in several places, but I really wish I had read this when I was a teenager. Inspiring to say the least. He doesn't sugar coat the hardships of life, but he assures us that we can overcome anything if we maintain an iron will!

A very good and inspirational book
" The more difficulties one has to encounter, within or without, the more significant and the higher in inspiration his life will be". This is a great quote from the book and recently my Mom passed away and I could not have found a better quote to sum up her life. She is an inspiration to me to endure life's battles and grow from them. Grow in Grace mainly. This is a solid book from a great writer. For the kindle price of zero, you simply must get and read this book.

an all time classic for all time
For Marden it all comes down to knowing what you want, applying all your powers to get it, and never quitting. The man is a master at weaving narrative into self help, creating timeless classic after timeless classic. Get all his books, you won't be disappointed!

Excellent
In coordination with Orison's other books, this one is an excellent short read that took me less than a half hour to finish, but had an inspiring, incredible collection of poems, stories, and quotes which sang in harmony the book's title. Very moving, it does not pull or push you to do anything, simply hear the words, stories, and music of people from around the world, I found it an incredible, priceless read.

The secret to all success
I read a lot of business-marketing books. It's hard to believe that this book was written in 1901. The examples are motivating, although dated. A fast read at 49 pages. It reads like a slightly older version of ThHINK AND GROW RICH. I'm assuming that AN IRON WILL inspired and provided the framework for the Napoleon Hill book. Solid examples. I ordered several copies as gifts. This isn't the kind of book you read. It's the kind of book you study.

Some of Orison's books are fantastic, this one is only OK
At less than 50 pages in length (the page count seems to vary greatly based on the edition), Iron Will could have simply been a chapter or two in one of Orison Swett Marden’s other books. That being said, Iron Will was still worth the read and it did drive home the point that having an iron will/being persistent is one of the major keys to success. “The power to hold on is characteristic of all men have accomplished anything great; they may lack in some other particular, have many weaknesses or the eccentricities, but the quality of persistence is never absent from a successful man.”In order to bring home this point, numerous examples of the successful people in history (due to the fact that this book was written over 100 years ago I found that many the names were not familiar to me) and how they arose from poor beginnings and how they became successful through their own determination, are cited. One of the specific stories that really emphasized the importance of persistence for me was that of Thomas Carlyle just after he had completed writing the first volume of his “History of the French Revolution.” Apparently, “After the first volume was ready for the press, he loaned the manuscript to a neighbor, left it lying on the floor, and the servant girl took it to kindle the fire it was a bitter disappointment, but Carlyle was not the man to give up. After many months of pouring over hundreds of volumes of authorities and scores of manuscripts, he reproduced that which had burned in a few minutes.”Some of the additional quotes that I made note of include:“…no amount of genius has ever availed upon the earth unless enforced by will power to overcome the obstacles that hedge about everyone who would rise above the circumstances in which he was born, or become greater than his calling.”“I know no such unquestionable badge and ensign of a sovereign mind as that <of> tenacity of purpose…” Ralph Waldo Emerson““He that wrestles with us strengthens our nerves, and sharpens our skill: our antagonist is our helper.” Edmund BurkeThe bottom line for me is that I did derive value from reading Iron Will and in spite of the fact that the book is very short and many of the examples dated, the message that success cannot be had without persistence is timeless and worth repeating. I would go on to say though that if you are only going to read a single book by Orison Swett Marden, I would suggest either, “How to Succeed: or, Stepping-Stones to Fame and Fortune” or “Prosperity.”

interessting
It is a very short book but worth a read, The book gives many examples and quotes e,g, "When I don't know whether to fight or not, I always fight".It would have been useful to have had some practical steps to develop the will and not just examples.
