The Daily Artist (A Creative Journal by Marc Johns) Diary – February 21, 2015

I've just started it, but have flipped through the pages and it looks like it will be a fun challenge. The author encourages unique interpretation and multiple mediums, but the prompts are just perfect to inspire me when I want to draw but am drawing a blank of what ;=) They are creative and different ideas, but easy enough, some pages with detailed instructions. Most pages are filled with pre set "templates" to follow like pictures to fill in or dots to connect so it would be difficult to stray too far off the suggested idea.The book seems constructed well, like the binding and pages will hold up. No damage after being tucked in a backpack on an airplane over vacation. I'm using a wide 2B pencil to draw so far.If you are deciding if this is right for you based on your art level, I will note this review is from someone with an art background working in digital arts. I'm intermediate at drawing, it is definitely not my top skill. So if you are an advanced freehand illustrater, this might not be the book for you. But if you don't have many drawing skills, don't be scared away. The prompts and pre set pages are a perfect tool to help you create without feeling self conscious about your drawing skills!

A fun book for older kids to explore their inner artist.

I bought this for myself and for my 8-year-old artistic granddaughter. We have fun comparing our doodlings. It's a wonderfully diverse and fun creative experience.

disappointed to say the least. this would be great for a younger person,, young teenagers. Some content for an adult that has not every picked up a pencil or paint brush. Would not recommend for anyone with any art experience at all.

I bought as a way to make sure I was doing something creative every day. I love it, I keep it on my coffee table and do a page with my morning coffee or as I'm unwinding at the end of the day.

I'm picking 5 stars only because I thinks its good for our younger generation, adult none drawer or beginner. If you are more advanced than this book would be relaxing for non-thinking work which can be meditating.I bought to use with my 2 boy teenagers this summer as I told them I'm giving them 45 min.classes everyday in meditating art. (Like it or not) Of course I have several different things planned so I thought I would use some pages from this book as well.

I adore Marc Johns' humor and illustrations. I got this for my daughter for Christmas. She's 6 and may not appreciate some of the jokes like I do, but it's been a blast to see her work through it - though she didn't stick to the "daily" idea. I think she's finished about 90% of it already (not even 30 days since she received it.) I may continue to buy these for my kids each year.

I tried. It is fun and not nearly as sappy or touchy feely as the Artist's Way. I may need to pick this up and try agin. Cute exercises and very open ended.

MY girls love these books and so do I. I homeschool my girls and this is an awesome way to include art, creativity as well as other areas in for school.

One of the best investments on myself. I feel like jung again, my mojo is coming back. Very creative book. Helps me to tune in with myself. I like all the pages!

I lovely book that my daughter was immediately drawn to and she can be quite particular about what she does and doesn’t like. This is still for children but actually a bit more adult and less babyish than some of the other drawing books she’s got.

Bought as a present for a aspiring doodler.....slightly miffed that I didn't have the foresight to purchase 3 more for the other doodlers in my life.

The book was slightly damaged while being transported.
