BBE Crusher High Gain Distortion Pedal with 3-Band EQ

I think part of the disappointment in this pedal stems from the fact that it looks like it could be a metal pedal that can give you super scooped mids. It does that job okay but I really would not consider this a distortion in the true sense of the word. It more like an overdrive with not so much character. That's not necessarily a bad thing. My amp is completely soulless but it is pretty damn loud. So basically I define the tone before it hits the amp. You'll probably have to do something similar with this pedal. It does the job of equalization and gain very well but it has very little color to it. I haven't tried it with the Sonic Stomp but I'd imagine that could help. A Screamer of any kind in front of it would definitely help. Or it can be used as a really nice boost pedal. It's not a bad buy and it actually is a quality pedal but it doesn't really have a "sound" that you would go after like you would a Tube Screamer or any other decent overdrive.

Made like a tank. Great knobs. Solid for sure. Sound wise........ pretty much like all cheap overdrive or distortion pedals, has a treble crunch that's really hard to get out without screwing with your sound to much. Not a warm distortion. Guess that why they called it Crusher. I do own the Sonic Stomp. Have used it for many years. Wouldn't play without it.

Unlike the excellent BBE "Benchpress" vintage Compressor, "Green Screamer" Overdrive, and "Two Timer" dual setting Analogue Delay, the BBE "Crusher" High Gain Distortion Pedal with 3-Band EQ adds a lot of unwanted noise to your effects loop and has some strange sound anomalies that appear at the end of sustained guitar cords. After a two minute demo, I determined that this stomp box was not for me and I scheduled a return. This pedal was quite a disappointment in comparison to BBE's other great products, and in what appeared to be a very cool EQ design.

I bought this because it was on sale, and cheap. but wow, what a great pedal. it's capable of doing classic sounds to modern crunch and has a great tone.

Crushing distortion, great for that high gain sound! It's nice to be able to scoop the eq. True bypass works well.
