A better alternative
I bought this based on the recommendation of a fellow photographer and because my Better Beamer literally fried my flash. I had some trepidation about it since there is not a lot of documentation out there on recommended settings for your flash, but I decided it was worth a try. Harbor Digital only said that for under 50' they recommended keeping the interior dome in place, which has worked well for me. Flash settings for those who might be interested. ETTL - Zoom set at 50mm - High Speed sync - Flash compensation set at 2 1/3 stops underSo far I really like this extender. I used the flash settings from what had worked for me on the Beamer as a base line and have not had to tweak them. The upside is that it controls the light output better in that it keeps it in a tighter pattern. I notice less flinch and very little blue eye on the birds I photograph. The blue eye can still be present in low light conditions but it is minimized. It is sturdier than the Beamer and fits snuggly on my Speedlite flash. The only downside is if you are traveling it is going to take up some space in your camera bag or suitcase.

Now I can use my canon ex430 in the sun and it has enough power to be useful at quite a surprising distance
I was pleasantly surprised to find this product works so well! Now I can use my canon ex430 in the sun and it has enough power to be useful at quite a surprising distance. I primarily use it for bird photography, and would say this product is definitely worth the money.

Great Product
I've been using the Harbor DItital flash extender for months now on my 430 exII. It does a great job filling in shadows when shooting wildlife. It fits the flash perfectly and is pretty well built. I would have given it 5 stars but the front that holds the fresnel lens is not as sturdy as the rest of the light box.I highly recommend this to anyone shooting birds or wildlife.
