Works, but not well
Unit reviewed: MP5-2 Hoidokly Bluetooth Car Radio With 4.1" Touchscreen & Rear View CameraSorry, I can't recommend this.Ok, I knew this car stereo is very cheap for all the functions it has, and I didn't have great expectations, but I need at least the RADIO to work. Although it works as such, the reception is shockingly bad. Station search found ONE station and driving around, it lost reception very often. (My previously fitted Pioneer radio finds and has clear reception of a lot more stations, so it isn't my aerial/lack of signal strength)This unit is advertised as having RDS. It does NOT. You can save up to 8 stations, but they are only shown by their frequency. No station name or other info. One of the main features I bought this for, is to connect my phone via Bluetooth. Again, this works and the sound is good, but it keeps losing connection when you play music through the radio. Mega-annoying when you find yourself singing along to your favourite tune and suddenly deliver an acapella solo...I managed to download my phone contacts to the unit and place calls through the radio. That all works well. I didn't even need to connect the additional microphone. BUT the contact list is in no PARTICULAR order. I have no idea what it is ordered by, but it most certainly is NOT alphabetical. When you have about 300 contact numbers, this renders it completely unusable. The display is clear and responds well to touch. Unfortunately, there are no instructions other than the basic fitting info, so you will have to find your own way through the function menus. One nice feature is that you can change the colour of the button backlight. It took me a while to find the corresponding setting to change it to one colour. The default setting is cycling through all of the colours, which I found irritating after a while.Although the unit comes with an ISO harness, you need to swap the red permanent 12V (bat) and the yellow switched 12V (ignition) for it to work properly.I didn't try/install the rear camera or remote controls because the radio reception was so bad that I knew I would not keep it. Returned it for a refund which was not a problem with Amazon.
